The Beginning of an Odyssey

[Wolf]

A young man that was walking along a path stifled a yawn. This young man's name is Damien Wolf. His silver hair was flowing due to a light breeze and his hands inside the outer pockets of his coat. The young man was on his way to the Pokemon Lab in order to get his first Pokemon.

Like most new trainers, Damien had a dilemma on his hands. That dilemma being which Pokemon he should choose as his starter. So far he had narrowed down his choices to Totodile, Treecko, Houndour, and Eevee. 'Ah man! I can't decide which one to choose. This is so frustrating! Ah well, I'll just choose once I get there. I just hope that I'll make the correct choice,[/i]' thought Damien as he neared the lab.

Once he had arrived at the lab, Damien walked up to the door. Making sure he looked presentable, the young man knocked on the door and said, "Hello? Anyone home?"

[Crazed Lapras]

At the sound of his knock their was a crash, and some small pokemon started wailing. It seemed that the usual chaos that dominated Apple Blossom Labs was in full swing. The crying got louder, accompanied by the sound of footstep approaching the door. It swung open to reveal the Professor, a thoroughly upset Togepi in her arms. He was bawling his head off, and the Professor had to raise her voice to be heard. "Hello hello. Come on in. I assume you are here to get a pokemon?" She asked, bouncing the Togepi like she would a small child in an effort to make it stop crying.

[Wolf]

Damien jumped back when he heard the crash. He immediately thought that his knock had set off a chain reaction of some sort. To his relief, the Professor opened the door with a bawling Togepi. Obviously it was upset about something. Hopefully the bouncing of the Togepi would make it calm down. In an effort to be heard over the wailing of the baby Pokemon, Damien raised his voice a bit, "Hi I'm Damien Wolf and yes, that is exactly what I am here for." Hopefully, the Professor heard him.

[Crazed Lapras]

The Professor nodded and beckoned for him to come inside. She made a face at the togepi, then searched through several of her pockets before she found a lollipop. She stuffed it in the togepi's mouth, which got its attention. It sucked happily on its treat, watching the Professor as she turned to Damien. "Now that's taken care of, do you know what kind of pokemon you would like? We have bulbasaur, charmander, squirtle, torchic, chikorita, cyndaquil," She started counting them off on her fingers.... and quickly ran out of fingers. She smiled, bemused, and waited for Damien's response.

[Wolf]

Damien sighed in relief as the Togepi stopped wailing when it obtained its lollipop. For some reason, the sound of anything crying hurt Damien's ears. Hearing the Professor start to list off the Pokemon that were available to new trainers, Damien realized that the time for his dilemma to be solved was upon him. Thinking for a second Damien wondered if he could see a Totodile, Treecko, Eevee, and Houndour. Snapping out of his couple second long reverie, Damien said, "Actually, I was wondering if I could see a Totodile, Treecko, Eevee, and Houndour, please?" He then waited for the Professor to answer him.

[Crazed Lapras]

The Professor nodded at him quickly. "Wait here please. I'll go get them." She dissappeared through a swinging door on the other side of the room. The togepi was left to sit on the desk. It stared at Damien, still sucking on its lollipop, its eyes big and still moist from its tantrum.

It continued to stare until Professor A.B came back with the pokemon. She ushered them around the room, so Damien could get a better look at them.

There were eight pokemon in all, a male and a female of each kind he had asked to see. The female eevee appeared to be bashful. She hid behind the Professors legs, peering around her white lab coat to sneak a look at Damien. The male pranced about the room, his head held high, showing off his well groomed brown ruff.

The two houndour began to tussel in a play fight. The male ran circles around the female while she held him off with one or two carefully placed snaps of her large fangs. He had energy, but she had smarts.

The female totodile seemed bored. She plopped down on the ground, chewing on a nail, her expression disdainful. The male totodile walked up to Damien and began to play with his shoe laces, trying to figure out how to undo the knots.

The male treecko ran to the nearest potted plant and climbed up it like a tree. He peered out from his leafy perch, chuckling, obviously pleased with himself. The female treecko was a stunning shade of turquiose, and her skin glimmered with a shimmery sheen. She clasped her hands primly behind her, standing tall with perfect posture and she watched Damien. It looked like she wanted to go up and meet him, but didn't want to intrude on the totodile who had already claimed the space around the new trainer.

[Wolf]

Damien observed the eight Pokemon as they interacted with each other. So far his choices had been narrowed down to the female Treecko, male Houndour, male Totodile, and male Eevee. 'Argh! I like all of them. Gosh darn it. Let's see. The male Houndour has a ton of spirit, so something tells me that he wouldn't give up in a fight. This male Eevee seems to be the kind that has next to no modesty, and that would not really do if he lost in a battle. He also seems to be a bit of a show off. The female Treecko seems to be kind and caring. I am kinda inclined to go with her due to her Shiny nature and my past association with her evolutions. The little guy that seems to be in the mood for eating my shoe laces is a playful one.' he thought as he observed all of the Pokemon. Finally Damien had come to a decision. "Professor, I'll take the male Houndour." said Damien as he finally came to a decision.

[Crazed Lapras]

The male houndour stopped running around as he heard Damien mention him. He instantly walked over to the trainer, toung lolling, tail wagging. Professor A.B nodded, approving his choice. She walked to a cupboard and drew out a starter kit, which she handed to Damien along with the houndour's pokeball. "Here are some things to get you started. If you wouldn't mind, I would love to hear any information you gather about legendary and rare pokemon on your journey. Research never ends, you know?"

Damien grinned as the Houndour ran up to him. Kneeling down, Damien proceeded to scratch the little dog behind the ear. When the Professor walked over with the Houndour's Pokeball and starter kit, Damien stood up. Accepting the Pokeball, Damien pocketed it into the inner pocket of his jacket. Then he put the starter kit into his pants pocket, where it would remain until he had use for it. Hearing the Professor ask him to contact her if he sees any rare or legendary Pokemon, Damien said, "Will do, Professor. Well, I probably should get going now. Talk to ya later Professor. Come on Shadow, let's go." With that being said, Damien, along with Shadow the Houndour, left the building.
