Reyes couldn't help but fret a little, a pokemon he was getting a pokemon. A real starter pokemon, he'd been camping as nearby as possible having travelled here from the Academy. He'd taken the best effort he could to clean up in the stream near where he'd chosen to camp but he'd only used water so he hoped he smelled all right, he'd washed whenever possible after all.
Frowning slightly to himself underneath his skull Reyes looked around for a sign, eventually someone took pity on him and directed him towards the lab. After all the lost people normally were here for pokemon so thankful he'd headed off towards the lab, slightly curious that he'd not been remarked on so far in this town. Still shaking his head he paused outside the door, checking his uniform before knocking on the door three times.
Then considering something for a moment he made sure no-one was looking and carefully worked his skull off his head, swallowing nervously as he began to feel naked without it on he shifted from one foot to the other. Very much wanting to get inside and away from the exposure to open air, it was rare he made an effort like this but today was special and worth it.
Running a hand over his face he cursed mentally at the stumble on his face, how had he missed it in the stream this morning. Blast, well never mind he was here now and his appearance would have to do for now.

The door opened a moment later to reveal a short little woman in a lab coat. The Professor looked at Reyes and blinked a few times, taking in his... different appearance. Perched atop her head, a little Starly chattered to itself, clinging to Apple Blossom's fly-away hair. She cast the flying type a disgruntled look and gestured for Reyes to come in. "Hello, welcome to the lab. I suppose you are here to get a starter pokemon. Do you know what kind of pokemon you would like?"

Blinking as well as his eyes found a vacant space, Reyes soon found Apple's eyes with help from the chattering Starly. Then running a hand through his hair, ruffling it from it's long captivity he considered her words. A little intrigued by the small woman and the Starly, catching himself he nodded softly before speaking. "Yes I am here for a starter Professor...?" He paused waiting for her name to be offered, while it was known he wanted to be sure it was her and not an assistant of some kind.
"Well I've been thinking over the usual starters but I'd like to hear from you what the starter's are you have to offer me, if it's all the same with you." In truth he wanted a moment to recover from the shock of being outside without his skull he'd only done so a few times and it never got any easier on him, although as the moments passed and they passed safely inside he began to look more relaxed and calm.
Waiting for her answer he began to look around them, the hand holding his skull clutching it in a near white knuckle grip. He was scared without it but he wanted to share his true face with his starter and the person that gave him it, after all both were due that respect.

Professor Apple Blossom gave another glance to the flying type on her head before replying. "Apple Blossom; Professor Apple Blossom. I'll go with A.B. as well, though!" She nodded sagely, then listened intently as Reyes posed a query. "Well," The woman inhaled a bit, for the list was rather long.
"For grass type pokemon, we have: Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Treecko, and Turtwig; and Fire Type Pokemon include: Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchic, Chimchar, and an Airore exclusive, Emcub." There was a slight smile on her face as she anounced a Pokemon exclusive to the Airore Region. The Professor was proud.
"Water Type Pokemon happen to be: Squirtle, Totodile, Mudkip, Piplup, and another Airore exclusive Pokemon, which goes by the name of Flapool." Another smile, this time larger. A.B was very proud of the pokemon. She continued the list with a smile in her voice.
"Miscellaneously, there's Eevee and Pikachu. We also have two special pokemon for this month. Those are Solrock and Ralts." She paused for a moment, thinking of what else to tell the boy. She placed a hand in the pocket of her coat.
"Just as well, Airore is home to a large number of shiny pokemon, so I believe we have shiny versions of all of those pokemon, welcome to be chosen!" Professor A.B. smiled at Reyes, glancing down idly to the skull clutched in his hand.
"Not to pry," The woman asked sheepishly. "But, why do you hold the skull in your hand so tightly?" She said it as if she didn't expect him to answer, or to become offended or something horrible. She looked downwards, examining her shoes. The Starly on her head made a clicking noise, as if to punctuate the silence.

Reyes listened to everything she said with interest, distracting himself from the discomfort of not wearing his skull. Then mentally ticking off each starter in his head as she said them, he remained silent considering them each in turn. He was familiar with them to an extent due to his work in the field as a regular Pokemon Ranger, then as he formed his choices in his mind he was caught out by the questions about the skull.
Sighing softly he turned to the side so his short tail came into view. "I'm a pokemorph, to be exact I'm a Marowak pokemorph. Hence the skull and the death grip on it, the only reason I'm not wearing it is because my starter deserves to see my real face. So do you Professor, as the person who is the one giving me it." When he finished he shifted around a little uncomfortably, she was after all the third non-family member to see his real face and as she wasn't family he didn't feel exactly safe.
Hastening to move his thoughts off the skull, he looked at the Starly with a faint glimmer of a smile. Before speaking his choices, not trying to rush it or anything but he was getting more paranoid by the second. "I don't mean to rush but can we get to the starters? I'll answer any questions afterwards but I really don't feel safe without my skull on. So could I see all the Emcub, Eevee and Ralts?"

The Professor had a smile on her face as Reyes told her of his being a pokemorph-Marowak, to be exact.
"That's very noble of you, you know. Sacrificing your own comfort for your Pokemon, or me, for that matter!" She chuckled a bit nervously, then waved a hand in a dismissing way. "But back to business! I'll go retrieve those pokemon" She turned, mumbling to herself to remember what pokemon to bring, and walked into the back of the lab.
A few moments later, Professor Apple Blossom returned, with four Pokemon in tow. A male Emcub was first in line, and he looked ecstatic to be there. The pokemon bounded around the Professor's legs and up to Reyes. His large tail swung slowly behind him as he sniffed pensively at the skull in the ranger's hand.
It seemed to interest the pokemon, quite a bit. Not enough to hold his attention, however, for he was moving again in no time, walking around his maybe-trainer to sniff at the back of his legs. The fire type looked up to see the teen's short tail. With a yip of happiness, the pokemon stood up on his hind legs, batting at it playfully.
Professor A.B laughed at how outgoing the Emcub was, then observed as the next pokemon began to step forward. A small male Eevee, with a pale gray coat that seemed to sparkle, shimmer, really in the Lab's lights. He puffed up the mane around his neck and strutted confidently toward Reyes, head held high in a pompous fashion.
He walked like he owned the world, and that the world was-of course- his to own. Stopping a step or two away from the teen's feet, he looked upward smugly into Reyes's face, a smirk on his maw. The Eevee's tail wagged slowly behind him, and he looked over his shoulder to see if his second-in-command was coming.
The Ralts walk-shuffled forward slowly, as if it was scared to trip and fall on its face. He glared at the pokemon in front of him when it wasn't looking, but when it was, he smiled widely, speeding up his shuffle. Obviously, the Eevee's second-in-command didn't want to be second-in-anything.
Slowly, lazily, the pokemon came to Reyes, looking down at his feet. The Ralts didn't bother to greet, he just stood there, waiting on somebody to acknowledge him. Even if he didn't like to be some Eevee's sidekick, he was a bit too shy to do anything about it.
Pokemon three was another Eevee, normally-colored and quiet. It was actually sleeping again, having trudged into the area in a groggy stupor. He snored loudly, rolling here, there, all around, across the tiles of the Lab in some kind of walk-run-roll Eevee dream. The Professor looked at the pokemon, then at Reyes sheepishly. "Sorry, he didn't seem this sleepy when I got him.. ."
The final pokemon was another Emcub, larger than the first, and female. She was an intimidating Pokemon, as she walked up to the Ralts and knocked him out of the way thoughtlessly, giving him a snarl and a glare as if to dare him to stand back up. She looked at the shiny Eevee, so much smaller than her.
Asking to be hurt. The violence was fun for this fire pokemon, fun indeed. It solved all of her problems! Why communicate when you can stomp on the other guy until he does what you want?
The Professor was frowning deeply as the Emcub pushed the Ralts, and the pokemon stayed down. That bully!. She shook her head angrily, then looked back up at Reyes. "If these pokemon aren't what you're looking for, I could go bring more form the back."

He smiled as she waved it off with a nervous laughter, at least she was trying to take it in her stride unlike others he could think of. Then when she returned with the pokemon he let them draw his attention, an easy smile on his lips as his focus turned to them.
Letting each introduce themselves in some way Reyes watched them all, even letting the Emcub pay with his tail. Then watching them all for a few moments he spoke softly but surely, addressing Professor Apple and the pokemon in unison. "Well the male Emcub has my consideration still, he's playful which is something of a good trait although it could be an issue if he stays too playful." He paused to let his words sink in to the Emcub before continuing.
"As for the Eevee's one is a good dreamer and the other is handsome.... Although he's also a little too pompous for my tastes, if he learns a little humility I have no doubt he'll be a fine pokemon for a different trainer. However he's not for me. Still if I could see another Eevee I'd be grateful, I don't want to rule them out just yet if that's fine by you." He'd offer the two Eevee an apologetic smile in turn but he felt honesty about them would be best for their futures.
Then looking at the larger Emcub he looked at her firmly before speaking again. "As for this one, well she's not exactly suited to my lifestyle. While power is a good trait it needs to be tempered by some compassion towards others, so sadly she isn't for me either." Turning finally to the Ralts he smiled and considered his words for a moment, so as not to damn it to bullying should he eventually not pick it. "As for the Ralts, I've not made my mind up so could he stay for now?"

The Emcub that had been playing with Reyes's tail stopped as he heard the words. Too playful?! Of course he wasn't too playful! He was just being fun! The Fire Pokemon walked around to stand in the pompous Eevee's place, for that pokemon had gone back to stand by Professor A.B, quite sad indeed.
The Emcub fluffed up his fur, hackles standing on end and teeth bared in a snarl to show that he could be fierce as well. A social chameleon; that was one way to describe the Pokemon. He was always good at changing his actions to fit any situation, be it being playful, or fierce, or possibly sneaking about as needed.
The Ralts next to the Emcub hadn't followed the Eevee back to A.B., happy to be away from his tyranny. Just as well, it seemed this almost-human's words had saved him from the horrible Emcub! The ghastly one who wanted to stomp on him and push him around! She had padded back over to the Professor as well, standing near her, but not too close.
The small Psychic Pokemon was ever-so grateful, and he showed it by standing up and giving Reyes his full attention. The Ralts looked up, almost falling over from the weight of its head, and smiled at the ranger sheepishly. Even so, gravity won out, and the pokemon fell onto his backside on the floor.
Professor Apple Blossom nodded. "I'll bring out another Eevee or two!" She turned quickly, whisking away the unwanted pokemon back to where they came. Almost seconds later, the woman returned, curly hair bouncing energetically, with two pokemon in tow. She stopped walking, stepped to the side, and with a flourish, gestured at the two Eevees.
Both were female, normally-colored, but they seemed to be complete opposites. The first Eevee approached Reyes slowly. Her fur was radiant, not from shiny coloring, but from her taking very good care of it. She had a warm smile on her face, and she was focused intently on the Cubone pokemorph. Nodding a greeting, the Eevee sat down on her haunches, tail whisking from side to side. She blinked amiably at Reyes, waiting for anything he said.
The second Eevee was rambunctious. She skittered, jumped padded around, danced in circles on her hind legs, all with a gleeful look on her face. She fought with an invisible opponent, snapping, pawing and growling at thin air. After, she rolled onto her back, kicking at the air energetically with her paws. This Eevee was having a great time.
She rolled back to her feet, finished with her little show, and walked over to Reyes, giving him an very low nod. She padded over tentatively to the skull in his hand, wary of how he might react, and sniffed at it lightly. Finding the teen interesting, she proceeded to walk around him, found his tail, and let out a yip of pure happiness. This human wasn't boring! He had a tail! No matter how short, and... un-fluffy it might've been.

It couldn't be helped, no matter how well Reyes picked his word he was bound to make the pokemon sad when he said no. As the Emcub showed it was multi-talented he flashes it a warm smile, then when the shy Ralts gave him a smile he in turn smiled at it's clumsiness. Then as he watched the Professor bring out two more Eevee, watching both show off in their little way. One seemed to adore being well groomed and she was looking at him in a good way, while the other... Well she was rather chaotic but in a good way.
Cursing mentally to himself he considered the four, each of them had something about them he liked. Even the clumsy little Ralts did with it's show of effort, still he had to pick one and that was rather saddening. All four of them seemed an attractive choice in his mind, still considering them he knelt down to look at them from more their level. Placing down his skull almost reverently so his balance could be better without the weight, his tail saying slightly in both nerves and balancing him.
Looking at them again he weighs up each in his mind, he knew enough about them to hazard a guess that any of them would be a strong choice for a starter. Although the Emcub he knew less about, he'd only learned of it by snagging a magazine featuring Airore's unique pokemon in an article. With a mental sigh he took care to keep his thoughts hidden, thinking over them of random things so that the Ralts wouldn't be hurt by his thoughts.
As by then he'd decided that while the Ralts would grow into a powerful pokemon it wasn't for him at this time, oh if he could have his way then he'd come back and offer to trade the Professor for the pokemon he couldn't pick now if she still had them. He felt after all that he could get along well with them all and that was important for a team, letting out a soft sigh he looked at the remaining three.
The emcub was definitely a talented choice however he removed the emcub from his choices, not that he didn't like the pokemon but because the two Eevee had captured his attention more. Both seemed to be a more natural choice for him, now though was it the groomed friendly one or the little shadow boxer? Considering that carefully he thought over how the pair acted. Then with his choice made he let out a gentle sigh, it was a tough one to make for him but it was made.
Looking at each of them in turn he winced mentally and pointed to the rambunctious Eevee, she'd made something of a better impression on him then the groomed one. Still if only.... "I'd like to have her as a starter Professor, although I have to admit I'd take all four if I could. I like all of them to be honest but I know we can only pick one, although if you'd be willing I might return in future to check on the other three and perhaps trade for them. If you allow that of course?" He looked down sadly for a moment at the three he'd turned down, he really did want them as well... Still it had to be one, with that in mind he held out a hand towards the Eevee inviting to come closer while the other scooped up his skull. Placing it loosely over his hair, ready to pull it back into place in a few moments. He was getting much to worried for his tastes and he wouldn't be able to mask his fear from the pokemon for long if it remained off.

Though it wasn't mind reading, the Ralts seemed to know that he wasn't Reyes's choice. He brought himself to his feet, patting his hands together to get dust off of them, and went to stand over by the Professor. Even though he wasn't going to leave the lab today, the Ralts was strangely content! He watched calmly as the Emcub, now noticing that he wasn't holding Reyes's attention, shook his fur back to normal. He was upset about not being chosen, of course, but he tried not to show it, thinking that if he appeared weak to one person, he may tell the other people, and then nobody would pick him! Who wants a weak, mopey Pokemon? The groomed Eevee watched as Reyes pointed to the other one. Her?! Ew! She didn't sparkle and shine! Without being that nasty gray of actual shiny Pokemon! She had no style at all! The Eevee shook her head, furious. Turning her nose up, she twisted to face away from the Cubone Morph and pranced back over to Professor A.B. She twisted her tail and sat down, back still to the soon-to-be trainer. The Normal Type's tail lashed violently from side to side. The rambunctious Eevee beamed up at Reyes, happy to have been picked over her snotty companion. She would be going on an adventure! It would be great, and she would be strong! And maybe, just maybe, the Eevee thought, One day, I could be a Jolteon! She jumped up and down in pure joy, landing lightly on her feet and rolling across the floor contentedly. Professor Apple Blossom laughed lightly, then nodded as Reyes chose his pokemon. "You know," The messy-haired woman mused. "Nobody has ever asked me that! I suppose, if you return and they're still here, I could trade you for some pokemon!" She nodded lightly. "I'm sure they'd just love it, too!" With another nod, the Professor turned and went behind her desk, rummaging about to grasp at a starter pack. She ran a hand lightly along the pokeballs on the shelf behind the desk, pulling one out with sureity. As she came back to Reyes, Professor A.B. spoke. "This is your starter pack," She handed the bag to the teen. "And this, is this Eevee's pokeball!" With a grin, Professor Apple Blossom gave the Cubone Ranger his pokemon's ball. Congratulations! You received a pokemon: #133- Eevee, Female, Lvl 5 Moves: Tackle, Tail Whip, Helping Hand You also received: Pokeball x10 Potion x2 Antidote x1 Burn Heal x1 Ice Heal x1 Awakening x1 Parlyz Heal x1 Revive x1

When he heard that no-one had asked that before he looked confused for a moment. "Strange you think people would have asked that before..." He let his words trail off as he watched the Eevee for a moment before taking the starter pack from the Professor, opening it he looked somewhat surprised as he slipped the starter bag away. Then taking the Eevee's pokeball from the Professor he clipped it onto his belt, not bothering to recall her into it.
"So does she have name or should I come up with one for her?" He flashed the Professor his best smile before carefully wiggling the skull back onto his face, it's contours matching his near perfectly. Idly he wished he he could understand them all but the only pokemon he could understand were cubone or Marowak, sighing at that he looked back at his Eevee with a smile.
Then looking up at the trio he'd said no to he smiles warmly at them all, even the one with her back to him. "I'll definitely be back to see if you still have them then, after all each of them is worth the effort on my part." He glanced up to Apple them and considered the best way to thank her, thinking for a moment he dug around in his backpack. Pulling out a chocolate bar and offering it to her. "It's not much but take it as a thank you."

Professor Apple Blossom smiled. "Yes, you would think people would have asked, but alas, not a one has. I bet they think it, though!" Readjusting her glasses, Professor Apple Blossom noted that the Starly that had been on her head was rather quiet. She looked up to find the bird Pokemon asleep. "Oh, well, I guess that's better than the chattering." She shrugged a bit, then looked back to Reyes.
"No, I'm afraid that this Eevee doesn't have a name yet! It's all up to you!" The Pokemon around her feet were watching Reyes intently, except for that one shiny Eevee. Even so, as Reyes smiled, she seemed to feel it, and cast a quick glance over her shoulder. On her face wasn't an angry look anymore, it had turned to something sad.
The Professor giggled earnestly as Reyes gave her a chocolate bar. "Oh dear, wow! Nobody ever given me anything!" She swooned, holding the confection dearly. "Thank you so much, and good luck in your endeavors!"

Ren gave a little frown at that and shook his head. "Seems it's a day for firsts then doesn't it?" Smiling at her in thanks as she wished him well, Reyes started to get to his feet before catching the other Eevee's said look. Pausing again he reached into his pocket and pulled out a couple of bags of poketreats, checking them he passed one to Professor Apple.
"A little something for those three until I get back, I hope they like treats." He smiled at them all and got to his feet, looking at the Eevee he'd picked he was smiling, she'd gotten bored and starting shadow fighting on her back again. Although she'd paused at the meant of treats and was looking up at him with questioning eyes. "Yes I have some for you as well. Anyway see you again soon Professor." Moving towards the exit his Eevee flipped herself back over and bounded over to it, causing Reyes to hesitate for a moment as her name clicked into place.
"Oh and her names going to be Tori, Professor." He offered that with a glance over his shoulder and a farewell wave as he opened the door for Tori and himself, the Eevee hesitating for a moment before leaping out of the door as if pouncing an unseen enemy.
