It had been a few days since Reyes had been to the lab to collect his starter, since ten he'd got to know his single... Correction two pokemon, a friend from the ranger academy had sent him an Abra to get him started. Reyes could still remember the message that had come with the mysterious pokemon from his friend.
Reyes,
I'm sending you an Abra, I know by now that you've made the journey to the lab and picked your first starter so he should be waiting for you. He's kind and shy around new people like you are, personally I already have an Abra of my own although he's a lot bolder then this one. Anyway hopefully this Abra will help you get started, I've got to go now by ferry is leaving. I should be able to catch up with you at some point so when you get the chance buy one of the various means to communicate with other trainers when you can afford it.
Eternally, Lex Tacovna Pokemon Ranger Trainer Branch, Eastern Department
PS. Keep that skull intact and safe my friend.
After that bombshell he'd spent time learning to work with both pokemon, his Eevee growing stronger after his visit to the local training gym. His Abra having refused to leave his tent that day, still the trio were warming to one another. Tori more then the Abra, who Reyes had named Leit. A name that the pokemon seemed to like as it answered to it, still he'd only been able to put off for a few days before he had to leave.
He was to be left to his own devises until he gathered every pokemon badge and could travel almost everywhere. After all only then would he be useful, until then he'd only be called upon when needed for help by either the local departments or trainers in trouble. Other then that he'd help pokemon as when he needed to.
As it was on the day he departed the sun was rising through a faint mist, Reyes and the shy Abra working together to pack away the tent. His Eevee rushing around chasing a daring butterfly around the campsite, not bothering to catch it just chasing it and missing it on purpose as she pretended to battle it. Although when Reyes and Leit finished collapasing the tent she gave up her mock battle when she heard the Abra retreating to his pokeball with a gentle mental sigh.
Something both her and Reyes heard, although only the Eevee fully understood it. Both of them were beyond Reyes' natural ability to understand unfortunately, still he was their trainer and Tori was happy to be out of the lab. She could smell other pokemon on the light breeze and her tail was swishing behind her, she wanted to prove herself today and grow even stronger. She looked to Reyes and yipped excitedly at him, prowling the fringe of his campsite. "<Come on I want to get out there and start growing like other pokemon with trainer do! Just like at the gym the other day!>"
Now while Reyes couldn't understand her he got the emotion of the yipping, which drew a shake of his head as he hefted his fully packed backpack on and adjusted his skull slightly. His pokemon hardly seemed fazed by what he was, the Eevee seemed to enjoy him being different and the Abra seemed to have mutual respect for Reyes as if it knew he'd been a shy person in the past. Now however Reyes wasn't so shy, although a part of that remained when it wasn't ranger related things.
Still with a chuckle Reyes gestured to the Eevee and patted the Abra's pokeball. "Well we're ready, so Tori lead the way and if you get lost bark or yip. I'll come find you no matter what happens, Leit I know you can hear me so be ready for being released and ordered to teleport. It might be Tori is injured or I find a pokemon beyond my means to heal, so please be ready." It only took him a few moments after that to feel both pokemon make ready, Leit a gentle touch on his mind as the pokemon watched through Reyes' wiling eyes.
The Eevee on the other hand had bounded off exictedly, Reyes had explained the route to her over breakfast and pointed out various landmarks to her, even explaining a few meetup points should she get lost. So in her joy and excitement she was free to bound off, with a briskly walking Reyes not far behind her.
--- Edit: Sorry about the length, it seems pokemon RP flows naturally for me.

<It is the sun that powers my very essence, feeds my ever-living soul with its warm caresses of heat, and food!>
A rather poetic Sunflora sauntered along Route 1, reciting verses and throwing wild leaf-gesticulations about to match his words.
<It is the sun that powers me!> Leaf-arms thrown upward, towards the sky, where the Pokemon's oh-so-beautiful sun was raising up to rear its golden-shiny head.
<Feeds me with its graceful heats. . .Heats? No. no..>The flower's head shook, mentally scratching the word 'heats' from his vocabulary. The rhythm of his ramble had been broken. He moved his arms, as if trying to get the thoughts flowing by rolling them about in the air.
<Heat..heat...warmth, oh, if only the Sun Stone hadn't gone! It was my muse, my very fountain of artistic prowess!> The lucky, so very lucky Pokemon had come upon a Stone, of the Sun variety, that turned him from a Kern and into a Flora! Beautiful!
He had felt his energies collide with that of his very power source, (that glowing star), dance about through his small body, and stretch him, pull him into his wondrous and true form! Petaled and tall, oh, how he had come to such heights!
Along with being 'an artist', this Sunflora was a tad bit vain, taking a moment from his hard thinking to run his leaves over his head's petals. <If only I had some inspiration, someone or thing to spark my interests! To make them rumble, roil with the very froth that throws the mind into an overloaded tizzy!>
Maybe the Pokemon was just a bit crazy. He was rambling to himself after all. No matter. At that moment, the Grass Pokemon heard the approach of what was most likely another pokemon. An Eevee had come bounding towards him, bristling with energy.
<Oh, hello there!> The Sunflora hoped that maybe this Pokemon would say something deep and philosophical; a phrase or word that would take his mind like a leaf in the wind, blown to float tentatively on the surface of a slow-moving river.
Oh, how wonderful it would be to be taken on that mental roller coaster, that joy ride that could either end in disaster, or just bliss! Like a forest with a fire sweeping through it relentlessly, this Sunflora wanted to be broken down to nothing, only to return again!
He swooned slightly, his sudden rush of thoughts bringing a smile to his face, giddy with the pure magic of it all. Oh, if only this Eevee would speak, whisk him away!

As Tori stumbled across the Sunflora she readied herself to pounce, her tail swishing behind her as she drew her body down coiling for the leap. When suddenly it spoke throwing her off, still tensed for pouncing she tilted her head to regard it for a moment before speaking to it. "<Er... Hello I suppose, I'm Tori." She wondered for a moment why she'd given her name before turning slightly as the grass rustled and Reyes moved softly from the grass. So he can move silently as well, oh he's going to be so not boring like the other trainers. She smirked slightly then as her mind moved to how the Sunflora would react to a man with both a skull on his head and tail behind him, the tip should be visible at least to the Sunflora.
Reyes on the other hand had been following Tori, letting her lead the way. Even if it did extend their journey a little, still they had time it wasn't an amazingly long journey after all. Once he was clear of the grass he looked to her and then towards the Sunflora, taking a moment before speaking warmly (although there was a hint of shyness in there). "Well there you are Tori, I see you've been making friends with the local flora. He nodded towards the Sunflora with a smile, moving slightly so the pokemon would be able to see the Pokemon Ranger markings on his uniform with ease.
The little Eevee gave a few more swishes of her tail before moving a little and pouncing towards Reyes, aiming for a patch of grass in front of him to attack and play with. For now she was happy to do that, the Sunflora had thrown her off and a moment ago she'd wanted to roll around with it. With a flash the thought came back and she continued to worry the grass as she moved to face the Sunflora, glancing up with a friendly yip. "<Fancy playing about, just a tumble for fun not battle. Unless you fancy it, I'm sure my ranger would indulge you and then we'd nure you back to health.>" She was bubbling with excitement, fun times were to be had that was for sure. An interesting trainer, freedom to leave her ball at a whim so long as she stayed by his side when he needed her and a chance to just be herself when she felt like it.

The Sunflora smiled widely, petals seeming to raise up with newfound enthusiasm. <Oh Tori, Tori, my sweet!> The Sunflora spoke as if he had known the Eevee for years on end.
<Your supposition breathes like a cool waft of air across my very soul! You speak as if you are unsure of said name, but no, no! You merely prey on my heart, tickling at it with your sultry muse-ish ways! We have just come to meet and I am already left stargazing, basking in the warmth that is simply, oh so simply, just you!>
Finishing with his ramble, the Pokemon looked upwards past Tori, catching sight of Reyes. A human? But what would posses him to wear the skull of a Cubone!? Is that a tail? Thoughts danced through the psyche of the flower, but he shook the feeling of confusion off as he saw Reyes's ranger uniform.
<Oh, a Pokemon Ranger! How majestic those humans are! This one is a bit funny though. . . No matter! I must trust this one! Look at those colors he wears, bright and valiant and wonderful and great and shiny and . . .> The Sunflora ran out of words, letting his sentence trail off. He watched Tori play with grass earnestly, then smiled even more widely as she asked for a battle, if he fancied it.
<Dearie, I'd fancy it just to spend more time with you! Something about your sudden presence has made my mind race, the words come to me at a spectacular pace!> He paused, chuckling to himself.
<Oh look, an unintended rhyme. Hah! But now, let us battle it out!> The Pokemon moved with haste, jumping backwards to put more distance between him and his now-opponent. To the Sunflora, battling was yet another art form! Up there with poetry, singing, and sitting in one place for hours on end.
Starting up with a Growth the Pokemon raised his special attack, then breathed in deeply, concentrating, and used a Mega Drain in the direction of Tori.
<Little Muse, let's dance!> The battle was underway.

The Sunflora was flustering the Eevee, she knew some of his words while other escaped her but they were enough to cause a faint blush under her fur. She wasn't immune to flattery after all, still she knew Reyes would have seen and she growled to herself mentally. Shaking it off as she watched the Sunflora, smiling in her own way when it agreed to battle and looking to Reyes. Reyes on the other hand barely got the basic purpose of the conversation, his training at the academy learnt he could understand the emotions and inflictions with which the pokemon spoke but beyond that he needed a translator.
Still he saw the blush fading on the Eevee as he watched the Sunflora with bemusement. Was it just flirting or something? He shook his head with a laugh and spotted the pokemon leaping back, it seemed the pair had agreed to battle. Then more fluidly then at the gy his voice rang out. "Tori start with growl, sand-attack and then follow up with tackle once you manage to hit him with sand-attack. Try to dodge any attacks that come your way all the time, use that speed of yours." Even as he watched the pair he saw her leap into action and he nodded.
She'd heard the gameplan and nodded mentally to it, it was smart although she planned to growl if she missed with the sand-attack just to be on the safe side. Still as she leapt to the side she barked at the Sunflora. "<Let us dance indeed!>" She could get into that mindset when she needed to, still as she leapt she only managed to partially dodge the mega drain as she could feel her tail go slightly numb at the tip. Still it could have been worse so she shrugged it off, lifting her tail a little higher as she spun in the dirt, growling cutely as she did so before flinging the dirt she'd dislodged whilst spinning at Sunflora. Leaping aside as soon as she was done and readying to either dodge and do the same again or go in for a tackle.

The Sunflora beamed as the Eevee in front of him looked flattered. With nothing poetic to say, he stayed quiet. Wouldn't want her to think he wasn't as artistic as he said he was! Wait, wasn't brooding artistic as well?
He brooded, and brooded like crazy. He stopped, however, to see that his attack only his opponent hit partially. No matter, he would do it again!
The Pokemon's thoughts were cut off, however, as Tori threw sand at him offensively. Quickly, precisely, the Sunflora deflected the onslaught with the yellow petals on his very head, sending the dirt back to where it belonged.
Rather than counterattack directly, though, he waited until the Eevee was about to Tackle him, and quickly made his body larger with a Growth. Taller, heavier, more sturdy, this Sunflora was battle-ready!
<Aha! Little Muse, see how my tactics work?> Tori's Tackle hit perfectly, and he slid backwards a few steps. The Flowery Pokemon had already had a height advantage on the Eevee, but now he definitely was larger. The attack hurt, sure, but not as much as it would've had he'd been smaller.
With a shudder that went from head to toe, the Grass Type inhaled deeply, feeling the dance of what would be a Leech Seed in his gullet. The Pokemon exhaled in a harsh gust, sending the clingy particles directly at Tori, confident that they would at least partially hit.
Even though he held trust in the accuracy of his last barrage of flora, the Sun Pokemon tensed his muscles, tendons, veins? He tensed, no less, and got ready to dodge, in case his very living, breathing inspirational device found a way to turn his offense back on him.
<I am ready, Tori, for whatever you throw at me!>

Reyes simply watched the pair allowing Tori to show off and flaunt her skill, he'd laid down a basic plan and he had no desire to change it just yet. The little Eevee rolling away from Sunflora once she tackled him, the seeking Leech Seed hitting the ground behind her as she spun out of her roll and leapt to the side. Spinning she growled at him again and leapt at him, launching another tackle at him.
While she'd managed to dodge that it was only because she'd been rolling that she managed to dodge it at all, still now wasn't the time for those thoughts as she hurtled towards the Sunflora. Let him use Growth as much as he fancied, he'd prove to hi it meant no difference to her. "<Come now size? That isn't everything you know!>" She hadn't been able to resist the retort, after it it followed nicely given his tactics.

The Sunflora smiled widely, looking devious. He took the Growl valiantly, even chuckling a bit, and shaking his body happily. <Try me, my sweet!> He beamed, becoming his own flower-based rendition of the sun for a moment, and he realized it.
<Lo, how you bring out such new feelings in me! I can practically feel sunlight; it's solar spirit, Tori, radiating from my core!> The Pokemon laughed, and pulled back a now-large, shiny-green leaf as Tori went to Tackle him.
He waited patiently, the smile on his yellow face never fading, until the Eevee came -right- to where he needed. He sidestepped, moving his body out of the way of the attack, and swatted at the little fox in a leaf-filled Pound, then following it up with a Growth for good measure.
<Come now size? That isn't everything you know!>
The Sunflora smiled. <No, my dear, it is skill that's everything.> He chuckled, shaking his petal-laden head. <Size just helps quite a bit.>

As Tori yelped from the Pound hitting her Reyes winced pondering for a moment before scooping his pokeballs from his belt. Toying with Tori's for a moment he considered recalling her, before discarding of the idea for now. Still he summoned Leit, who directed a sense of vague annoyance to Reyes. "Yes I know you'd rather be resting safe in your ball but I may need you to relieve Tori, I' not sure she's too well matched in this battle." Sighing Reyes shook his head as he returned Leit's pokeball to his belt and pulled an empty pokeball off, toying with it as he watched the little Abra settle down to watch the battle. The poor thing instinctively teleporting a few inches when Reyes's voice rose suddenly.
"Tori show off like you were in the lab!" He wondered how she'd react to that and let his focus on her, as he watched her pull herself to her feet. The hint of a smile below her grimace, this was a challenge and she was loving it. A real battle, admittedly with a flower but hey it was a proper challenge just like the training gym! Still as she realised what Reyes meant she leapt back at the Sunflora, dragging the dirt in front of her up in another Sand-Attack as she leapt at him, boxing him with her paws as she bit at him.
No moves, no finesse just pure brutal fighting. She could tumble and fight, she'd just throw herself back at him. Worrying him with blows and sand-attacks whenever she was knocked clear and then once the trap was set she'd make the same approach and leap in with a tackle.

The Sunflora smiled as his attack connected. This battle was going pretty well. He seemed to be matching his opponent for power.
"Tori show off like you were in the lab!"
That didn't sound good. The lab? A Pokemon lab?! Oh, that couldn't mean anything good for the Sunflora. His thought was proved as Tori came to her feet, looking happy. The Sun Pokemon shook his head; no time to chicken out now! With another valiant grin to hide his worries, he spoke to the Eevee.
<Dearie, my Muse! Let us continue this tussle!> Shortly after his sentence, however, sand was flung towards his face! He moved to deflect it with the leaves on his head or his arms, but he wasn't quite fast enough. Some sand still got into his eyes, and he shook his head wildly.
An attack! A move? No, just plain old fighting. He was being kicked and slapped and chewed on! Oh, the horror of it all! No matter how he flailed his arms and moved around, she stuck to him like sap! The moment he got a free second, she would kick more sand at him and return!
The Sunflora would have to combat this. He inhaled deeply, trying not to let the wind be blown out of him from the attacks, and blew out in a spluttering Leech Seed. Desperately, the Pokemon hoped that his opponent's vicinity would make her easier to hit.

There! The trap was set he'd started to try and counter, then as he began his Leech Seed Tori leapt away to charge him in a Tackle. She'd not be able to dodge this Leech Seed but after her unorthodox attack she didn't expect to need more then a few Tackles, so she'd grin and bear it.
On the other hand Reyes was considering throwing the empty pokeball at the Sunflora, however he didn't want to capture an unwilling pokemon. Still as he let the battle continue for now he made his mind up to end it soon and make an offer to the pokemon.

After he had delivered his attack, Sunflora had madly clawed at the sand. He wiped the majority off, then, using the method that works for the stuff under the eyelids, he forced himself to cry. He wasn't sobbing, oh heavens no, that was too unpolite. Just a few silent tear trickling down his cheeks did the trick! They eased the sand away easily, like how easily his Sun Stone had gone. One touch, that was all. He wiped the tears away, blinking hard to focus his vision. It seemed his Leech Seed had hit.
~Oh frabtous day! Caloo, calay! He chortled in his joy.~ Sunflora quoted from the famous poem as he waved his leaves at the sun.
But what was this? Advancing peril in the form of a charging Eevee?! Sunflora wouldn't stand for that. It would mean... why, Sunflora would be Tackled, it would seem! How unfortunate! The Grass type managed to dodge the Tackle, but Tora came around again and stuck him from behind. He glared at the fluffy brown fox, leafy arm glowing. He brought it down on Tora, still close by, in a Pound attack. He could just about reach, but was unsure if Tora would be able to move out the way or not.

As her first attack was dodged Tori wheeled around with her usual bounding grace, which is to say no grace at all. Still when she hit the Sunflora from behind she couldn't help but smirk to herself, that is before his pound attack slapped into her back and drew an involuntary yelp from her. Which irked her greatly, her lithe body flinging forwards again in a near point blank Tackle although at the same time Reyes' voice rang out.
"Enough! It would do no good if the battle ended with one of us on the floor unable to move. So let's call this a dare shall we?" He was smiling below his skull, his eyes full of pride at both pokemon. This was what they did although normally they didn't stop here when it was a proper battle, still as he moved down to his haunches he watched the pair. Tori collecting herself from her latest attack to coil ready to attack, her tail swishing behind her.
"It's up to you Sunflora, we can battle until the end or end it without knocking either of you out. Plus you have a chance to join us if you wish, join the lab or continue your own travels."

Sunflora raised an eyebrow. This trainer was an odd one. Was she crazy? Most trainer's he'd ever met had been intent on fighting to the end and catching the Pokémon. It was with that that he had become stronger, and he wanted more. Sunflora wanted to be even tougher. Yet here was Reyes, ready to give up! HA!
Sunflora smiled, rolling his eyes. It was probably a case of 'I feel sorry for you' or something. Pft, they could think what they would, but he was his own Pokémon! The sunflower looked at Reyes. ~Give up? I may not know the ways of thou, but for one like me it is tradition that I shall not give up! I will never bow down! I, Sunflora, will not cease battle until one is fallen! Me... or you. If I fall, you may do as you wish with me. If you fall... well, then I shall be all the stronger for it.~ the Pokémon said, acting noble. He suddenly snapped back into battle mode, coming at Tori with a hard leaf; Pound.

Frowning Reyes reacted on instinct as he shouted. "Tori jump and use Tackle then Tail Whip, let's win this!" While he hadn't understood the Sunflora he hadn't needed to, the emotions were plain to see after all. So with her heart happy Tori leapt as high as she could, aiming to in effect turn the Tackle into the spear. Then without pause, no matter if it hit or not she'd strike out with Tail Whip as fast as she could before spinning round to face the Sunflora, ready to attack again.
While her trainer wanted to give him the option to give up she wanted to grow stronger and become as powerful as she could, it was her way she enjoyed the thrill of battle and the feelings it stirred in her. She was on her way to her dream and she adored it.
