The crowd seemed to like the fact that Asher's cart had come off its wheels. It seemed that what got them really excited was stuff that had a hint of danger, but perhaps it might be easier to win if Asher aimed to win rather than be a crowd-pleaser. Allison, up ahead, seemed to feel confident as Asher was behind her. She urged her team to faster, the Pokémon weaving about deliberately and making the cart wiggle and swerve in tricky and expert motions. The crowd liked this.
However, as she smiled up at the cheering crowd, a different sort of cheer went up. This one was for Asher; the little trick Allison had done had made her slower, and the Umbreon 'morph had caught her up. She frowned, glancing across at his team as the line marking the end of the first lap was about a third of the track away from them. She encouraged her Pokémon, and they sped up just a little, but it was still pretty close. The crowd was cheering at a moderate volume at this point.

occ/ this is going to be a bit hard I'm still a bit rusty on Asher and being in track didn't help either
Asher urged his team on faster to try to get away Allison and get to the finish line faster. He knew that his pokemon were tired from pulling the cart but he tried his best to make them speed up for the final leg of the race. Fortunately his pokemon gave it all they had in their gas tanks causing him to pull out more from Allison.
His pokemon were tired and their muscles were aching but seeing the finish line in site and only a little ahead listened to Asher and gave it all they had thinking <I cannot give up on the team we are almost there>

Allison could see Asher getting steadily further ahead, but she could also she that his Pokémon were growing more tired. Lots of practice for her team had meant that they had good stamina, but it seemed that his hadn't had that sort of practice. This was a good thing for her. It meant the boy would find it harder to keep going. She kept her Pokémon going ahead at a steady pace, knowing that before long Asher's team would grow tired and slow while hers were conserving their energy. The line was crossed, the commentator stating "One lap down, two to go for both teams."
It seemed that just running this course as fast as possible was definately not a good idea, as could be seen by the tired state of the Pokémon pulling Asher's cart. Allison's tactic was better at the moment; her Pokémon were still running strong and gaining speed as Asher's began to get more and more tired. Asher would have to think of a different plan, and fast; one that conserved energy and still meant he could win. Allison was keeping to the same pace.

occ/I didn't think there was two laps only one.
Asher smiled as he saw that he was pulling ahead but when he heard the announcer say that there was two laps he became worried. He had thought that there was only one lap and had wondered why team fire hadn't gone faster thinking it was only the last lap. Seeing that his pokemon were getting tired due to the increase of speed he swore quietly under his breath and smacked his head in frustration thinking,"I knew I should have read the rule book for the race before I went to sleep."
Then his face lit up, hastily pulling his rulebook out he skimmed through looking for any way that he could make this mistake over. Skimming through the pages he had an idea, the main reason that Pokemon and humans get tired is because they're carrieng weight and the more weight there is the harder it is to move. Skimming through the pages he saw a rule, the pokemon and their rider must go across the finish line first to win. The gears in Asher's mind were going like mad he thought, "It doesn't say that the person has to be in the cart only with his pokemon!" Then throwing caution to the winds he jumped out of the cart as soon as his pokemon rounded the curve and hit the ground running at a good speed."
His pokemon looked at him in surprise seeing him running alongside them however the fast that he was no longer on the cart mad it easier to pull and caused his pokemon to feel some relief from the weight of their rider. However their was one little flaw in this plan could Asher keep up with his pokemon?

ooc// Sorry Ibrow, nice idea but they do have to stay in the cart hence why it says that the human has to be in the cart of on the back. Besides, Asher can't run as fast as the Pokemon. Think how you would do in a race against dogs and horses. Also, one with two to go makes three in total, silly.

occ/ smashes head against the wall, is giving the pokemon water somehow like a spray bottle against the rules. Just trying to make sure its ok before I do it.
Asher almost slapped his head in agitation after learning that there was actually three laps rather than one. Then leaning over the front side of the cart he said, "Slow down, theres actually three laps instead of one, but keep a steady pace, we might be able to win and keep the lead." His pokemon hearing this slowed down, setting into a sorta of a slow run to keep their energy up without slowing down too much. Asher scrambled his brains trying to figure out what to do to help, thinking of a way too make the going easier for the pokemon as they got out of the curve in the race track.

The gap between Asher and the team ahead widened, but at least this time it stayed the same rather than keeping on getting wider. The two teams were matching each other at a constant speed, but unfortunately the distance between them meant Asher wasn't likely to win. Still, with enough thinking to give his Pokemon minimum effort, he might just manage something. If he listened, there was a vague sloshing sound in the cart; five bottles of water had been put in there. If he looked ahead, he'd see the other team were having a much harder time with theirs; the Fire types did not like getting wet and it's hard to aim water directly into a Pokemon's mouth from the squirt bottles both the teams had. The other team slowed a little however breifly. Asher wouldn't have trouble with the water, and it might just keep his Pokenon going if he used it sparingly.

Asher saw the water bottles and smiled, that could help give his pokemon a bit more stamina for the race. He also saw that the other team had a bit of a problem squirting the water into their mouths, and were wasting it while they were trying to get water. Asher's face lit up as he figured out a better way, why not just squirt it on the pokemon instead of trying to get it into their mouths? Team Fire couldn't do this because their pokemon were vurnable to water. Pulling out one of the water bottles he told his pokemon to close their eyes for a few seconds and tried to spray it on them, using about a full bottle ad getting 3/4s of it on the pokemon.
And put the bottle back down near the other's and said to his pokemon, leaning over the cart, "Open your eyes I sprayed water on you it should lower your body temperature a bit and hydrate you as well!" Shaking the water from their heads the pokemon opened their eyes, felling their temperature go down a few notches. Due to this they started to go a bit faster, starting to close the gap between the other team.

Asher's team was catching up with Allison's. She knew this, and wished she could urge her Pokémon to go faster. She knew that would be stupid, though, since they trained hard to reach this sort of pace over the three laps. They needed stamina, and for that you needed to keep going at a steady pace. They were trying this, and hopefully it would pay off. Eventually. Usually what happened was that they kept to this pace, did a few tricks for the crowd, then let the other team catch up to them at various times to make an exciting race before they would shoot ahead at the end, having conserved energy. This time, the other trainer was catching up against her will.
Still, his Pokémon were going at a faster pace to hers. He seemed to have learned his lesson about just going flat out as fast as possible, but he was still going at a faster pace. Maybe his Pokémon were able to go like that, but Allison knew better. She knew that it was the refreshing water giving them a boost and making them faster. She knew it wouldn't last, that she'd be able to overtake if she kept going steady. So that was what she did, kept going the same.

Asher knew this as well. He also knew that if he was able to get past the trainer, he just might be able to, if his pokemon were able to, keep a steady pace up, almost as fast as team Fire's pace if possible. However if his team needed it, to use the rest of the water bottles although sparingly keeping one for the home stretch. If his idea worked they would keep ahead sometimes falling behind, but would keep ahead most of the time, and mabey even win the race.
While all of this was going through Asher's head his team was keeping up the pace, and within a few seconds passed up the other team. Smiling Asher waved at them as he passed them his pokemon almost at the end of their boost getting closer to the turn.
Within seconds they were going into the turn, Asher knew that it was time to slow down they had an ok distance between the other team, that could last a little while and his pokemon were running out of juice. So as soon as they got out of the second turn Asher leaned over the cart again saying, "Return to a good pace, a jog if you like." His pokemon nodded returning to the previous pace, trying to conserve their energy once again.

It seemed that her opponent's team were slowing down once again, although Allison knew that this was not necessarily a good thing for her. Less speed meant less energy, so simple logic said that now Asher's team would be able to carry on for longer. Still, it was possible that his team might slow down without realising it. Allison had trained her Pokémon to count in their minds, a simple One, two, three, four, over and over. This kept them going at the same steady pace as well as keep them at the same time as each other.
Allison's team were still going strong. The gap between her and Asher was reasonable to her, although the fact that it was staying exactly the same worried her. The crowd could see this, too, watching eagerly to see what would happen. A little trick wouldn't hurt too much, would it? Allison tugged the reins in a way which was a signal to her Pokémon. Tommy the shiny Growlithe suddenly stumbled deliberately but appearing accidental, meaning he caused the whole cart to lurch. The others kept on running, and the golden puppy ran backwards before performing an excellent flip which had him facing the right way with the reigns still behind him. The crowd loved this, cheering; but Allison's little move had made the gap between herself and Asher grow. Perhaps if he could make her feel comfortable, she would perform another trick and put herself behind Asher if he very briefly sped up.

Asher looked behind him seeing the trick that team fire had done, but didn't care too much, seeing that it made a bit more of the space between her and him widen. Seeing that she was a crowd pleaser, trying to have as much of a love from the fans, he knew what he had to do. Within seconds they had passed the finish line again making the amount of laps they had to go to one. Asher smiled, seeing that he was in the home stretch and was still ahead of the other team.
After they came out of the curve, Asher pulled out another squirt bottle, thinking, "So what they were already ahead why not lengthen there advantage, they still had four bottles of water, they would still have some more, just in case the other team caught up." Asher pulled out another spray bottle try to make his pokemon hear him, without going over the side saying a bit louder than usual, "Ready yourselves for some more water, and speed up when you feel better." squirting the water all over his pokemon as soon as they were ready, getting a bit bigger amount to his pokemon out of the bottle, just about four fifths of it on his pokemon. His pokemon feeling the water go over them almost immediately sped up almost causing Asher to have to hold on to the reins a bit tighter than usual to help himself stay upright.

ooc// Er, actually, Allison is still ahead of Asher...
ic// The cart ahead was going steadier now, and Allison wasn't trying any more tricks. As the water came down on Asher's Pokémon and they speeded up a little, the gap closed even more and the crowd leaned forwards in their seats in anticipation as to what was going to happen next. This race could go either way now, and the line wasn't far off. The crowd didn't seem to mind who won; some of them were fans of Allison, while others wanted to see someone new win the race for once.
The gap finally closed, and the two carts were neck-and-neck. Both were going at exactly the same speed, and Allison glanced across at Asher. For a moment it seemed she might even try to knock into his cart; but then again, that would be mean and probably result in disqualification, anyway. Instead, she gave him a respectful nod before smiling and urging her team a little bit faster, moving ahead again. Her Flareon turned around, still running, opening her mouth. Allison nodded, squirting some water directly into it. The Flareon continued running, while the other Pokémon in turn were watered. This took a little concentration away and meant Allison had slowed a little, so the two carts were neck-and-neck again with a little over half of the track left to cover.

occ/ sorry Asher smiled, seeing that they were neck to neck and only having about half the track to go, knowing that his team could win this race if they tried hard enough. As they got closer to the turn Asher urged his pokemon to go faster, hoping to come out of the turn in the lead, but still came out neck to neck with team fire. Due to the fact that they had been on the outer edge of the turn even thought they had gone faster. Also looking at his pokemon could tell that once again they had reached the end of their line. So pulling out two of the spray bottles he squirted both at his pokemon covering them in twice as much water as before and told them to go all out, the finish line in sight just a couple yards away. His pokemon listened and went all out, pushing to their very limits, to try to pass the other team.

Allison had been in this situation before. She knew how to get through it- hence why she had made sure she was on the inside of the final corner. Still, there was some difficulty in the fact that Asher had started his sprint finish first and used up both of his remaining water bottles. She had some left, too, but her Pokémon would have to turn round for it, so there wasn't enough time to waste doing that. She urged her Pokémon on, knowing that they were so much faster than Asher's Pokémon. After all, if you looked at the speed stats, Allison's Pokémon had the advantage, but Asher's Pokémon had the advantage of being refreshed.
Team Fire was making a huge effort, moving their legs as fast as possible to try and cross the finish line. Asher's Pokémon were just ahead of Allison, but her Pokémon were faster, catching up. The girl managed to overtake the 'morph easily, nearing the finish line. She was going to win!
However, the tiredness of her team were making their legs seem like they were on fire. Well, not exactly fire- that would be fine for the Fire types- but something to that effect. They were panting heavily, barely aware of what was going on. They physically couldn't go on any more, and Asher's team pulled up beside them again. They were neck-and-neck as they finished at the finish line. Who had one?
The judge had been at the finish line, recording it with a tape in case this very thing happened. He put the tape into a small TV, watching it in slow motion. By a hair's breadth, the winner was...
"Asher!"
