Kairi's Brown Cow

[Kairi]

Kairi had decided already on the match ups. She'd use Pikachu, Shiva and Mighty. Those were her three strongest Pokemon. She'd decide on which one to send out first after she saw what Pokemon the gym leader would be using first. She saw the gym ahead of her,"Get ready, you three," she told them. The three choosen Pokemon nodded there heads,"Pika...chuuu!" Pikachu said flexing his muscles, showing that he was ready for anything that came his way. Well, Pikachu had always been the brave one out of Kairi's Pokemon.

Kairi wished that Sulteron could be here to see her first gym battle. She knew Pikachu wanted to show Mila, Sulteron's Lucario how tough he could be. Ever since Pikachu first met Mila he thought of the Lucario as his biggest rival. Pikachu wanted to be a warrior like Lucario, and be able to sense auras as well.

Kairi didn't think a Pikachu could ever be able to do that. It just didn't have that ability. But she had fate in her Pikachu anyway. Maybe one day, some type of hidden warrior talent that only a Pikachu has, would come out. Anyway, Kairi and her Pokemon entered the gym. As soon as she entered she called out for the gym leader,"Helloooo!" She called, her voice echoing down the hallways.

IC// As Kairi's call travelled down the gym's off limits areas. In front of her was a battle arena painted on the ground. The gym leader stood on the other side of the battlefield. Atann smiled. A girl, a trainer- perhaps a challenger? That could be good; maybe she'll prove a decent challenge for once. "I'm Atann, the gym leader. Have you come for a gym battle? I warn you, my Pokemon are tough and get tougher and tougher!" he told Kairi, tossing one Pokeball from one hand to the other. From what he could see, Kaiti picked favourites with her Pikachu. That would definately work to his advantage.

Kairi saw the very big arena in front of her as she walked though the gym's doors. She saw a guy sitting at the end of the battlefield. She figured that, this must be the gym leader,"I'm Atann, the gym leader. Have you come for a gym battle? I warn you, my Pokemon are tough and get tougher and tougher!" he told Kairi, tossing one Pokeball from one hand to the other. "Yes, I am. I've been training hard for this battle. Go ahead and call out your first Pokemon," she said, getting ready for whatever would come her way, as she stood with her Pokemon on the other side of the arena.

Atann could see her latest opponent tossing a Pokéball from one hand to the other, but wondered why she hadn't sent her Pokémon out yet. It wasn't like it was hard to guess what kind of Pokémon the gym leader would use; she was a Normal type gym leader, after all. Surely it would only delay the battle, then? Hm, maybe she would move after releasing her Pokémon or something. Either way, in gyms trainers always used their Pokémon in the same order, so it wasn't as if it mattered too much on her part.

She knew what Pokémon she would use first; the same Pokémon she always did, no matter what or who she was fighting. She gripped the Pokéball calmly, years of practice making her not nervous at all before her battles. After all, she usually won them; gym leaders, as well as having high levelled Pokémon, had strategies and counterattacks thought up based on what past challengers had done. Atann sent out her first Pokémon; as always, a Sentret. "The challenger gets the first move," she said, since that was how she usually started.

Kairi stood there waiting to see which Pokemon Atann would use first. She took a full five minutes to decide as if she was waiting for Kairi to call out her Pokemon first,'No chance,' she thought to herself,'If she picks first I can have the avandage as I'll know which Pokemon to use first.'

She saw the gym leader finally throw out a Poke Ball and out popped a Sentret,"The challenger gets the first move," Atann told Kairi. But she wasn't paying any attention. She was pulling out her Pokedex and pointing it at the Sentret,"Sentret, huh." The Pokedex beeped,"Sentret, the Scout Pokémon. Sentret is able to see great distances by rising up on its tail. When it spots an enemy, or any kind of danger, it emits a loud, shrill cry as a warning." It told her. Deciding to start off strong she sent Pikachu,"Go Pikachu! Use Shock Wave!" Pikachu nodded and built up power in his cheeks and let the Shock Wave fly towards Sentret.

The Sentret tried to dodge but the move would have hit him no matter what. The electricity from the move caused him to stiffen and send little charges of electricity down his skin. However he recovered and straightened up shaking his head to clear the fuzzy feelings out. Then he turned around to look at his master waiting for his command.

The command came quickly, shaking his head at the attack Attan then issued a command to his Sentret, "Sentret use quick attack!" The little Sentret nodded and quick dropped from his tail. Then he looked at the Pikachu taking aim then raced at the little mouse. Intending to inflict a great amount of damage to the rodent for causing so much pain with his attack.

The Sentret tried to dodge but the move would have hit him no matter what. The electricity from the move caused him to stiffen and send little charges of electricity down his skin. Kairi cheered,"Yes! Great job Pikachu!" Both Shiva, the shiny Glaceon, Mighty and Shaymin cheered as well. But Kairi's hopes were short lived as she saw the Sentret quickly recover from the Shock Wave attack,"Darn!" She complained.

Attan then issued a command to his Sentret, "Sentret use quick attack!" The little Sentret nodded and quick dropped from his tail. Then he looked at the Pikachu taking aim then raced at the little mouse. But Kairi reacted quickly,"Pikachu just let the attack hit you and use Thunder Wave when it hits," she ordered. Pikachu nodded, and waited until Sentret's Quick Attack hit and atempted to grab onto Sentret and release Thunder Wave into it's body hoping to paralyze it.

ic// Atann and Sentret both watched as Kairi attempted to ensure Pikachu a hit with his Thunder Wave. He could see why; Thunder Wave was a decent move, as it paralyzed the foe. A paralyzed opponent would be slower and occationally wouldn't move at all, which would quite obviously be a fairly large advantage to Kairi. Sentret couldn't stop now, the Quick Attack colliding with the mouse and of course dealing plenty of good damage before the weak wave of electricity flickered through the air, landing on Sentret and making the Pokémon's muscles twitch involuntarily.

Sentret snarled in annoyance at that she had been paralyzed, but it seemed that for this turn at least she could move. Atann took advantage of that, aiming to attack as much as possible while he could. "Right, use a Defense Curl, the step back and use another Quick Attack." he told his Pokémon calmly. The Normal type nodded, curling up in a ball and pausing until her body flashed to indicate that her defense stat had been raised. She then swiftly uncurled and darted backwards before zipping towards Pikachu with incredible speed; this Quick Attack would be an almost definate hit.

Pikachu's attack had made contact, as soon as Sentret hit him with Quick Attack, paralyzing the small Pokemon. But Pikachu had been sent flying backwards a little as well. But he just grinned his teeth together and bared it. A little attack like that wouldn't be enough to damage the small mouse type.

Sentret snarled in annoyance. Kairi grinned. She was enjoying this fight,"Wow! So this is what a gym battle's like. Your Sentret's pretty strong," she told Atann. "Right, use a Defense Curl, the step back and use another Quick Attack." Atann told his Pokemon. But Kairi reacted quickly,"Pikachu show Sentret one of our fusion moves. Use Charm and Iron Tail!" She told him. Pikachu growled at Sentret using Charm as he jumped up in the air,"Chu!" Then came down with Iron Tail making Quick Attack miss,"Pika!"

Atann saw Pikachu jump into the air, Sentret's attack missing. Kairi must think she was being clever... In fact, through his eyes, he could see that that move had been very stupid indeed. After all, to start with she'd taken a massive risk in using Charm first, since it delayed Pikachu's jump and because of the short amount of time the mouse had, the Charm didn't have much of an effect anyway. Plus the jump meant that Pikachu was in the air. Pikachu couldn't fly and attacks couldn't cushion landings, so Sentret could just take a large step to the right and watch Pikachu slam into the ground next to him. He decided to do something better, though.

"Sentret, if you can use Quick Attack, hit Pikachu higher! If you can't, all you need to do is step to the right." Atann told the paralyzed Pokemon a second option in case he wasn't able to move. To his luck, he was, pushing off the ground in a strong and fast Quick Attack. Since neither of the Pokemon could fly or steer in the air, what would pretty much inevitably happen would be that they would both be hit by the other's attack. However, while Sentret would just drop a couple of feet at a high speed, possibly even landing on his feet, Pikachu would be sent upwards and then gravity would bring him don't, again unable to steer. From the angle Sentret had managed through his years of practiced, it was probably that Pikachu would fall head or tummy first. Whatever happened, both Pokemon would be hurt by this.

Kairi saw her mistake,"Pikachu, turn your body and spin!" She called out. Atann then called out,"Sentret, if you can use Quick Attack, hit Pikachu higher! If you can't, all you need to do is step to the right." Kairi called out,"Quickly Pikachu!" Pikachu turned canceling out his attack and landing to the ground,"Pika!" He said. Pikachu was ok. "Now, Shock Wave while it's running towards you Pikachu!" Kairi called. Pikachu built up energy in his cheeks and let the attack fly towards the oncoming Sentret with a scream of,"Pikachuuuu!" It was too late for Sentret to stop it's attack so it was very likely that Shock Wave would hit.

ooc// Kairi, Pikachu can't have been perfectly fine, since he was slamming himself at Sentret who when moved would be replaced by the ground. And I don't know about you, but it's a little painful to slam yourself into the ground. Also, I find it really annoying how your Pokemon never seem to get hit or hurt by anything, it's not as if your Pokemon are Gods or can't take a couple of hits or anything.

Ic// Atann sighed as he clearly saw this trainer's strategy. Avoid, avoid, avoid... No real risks were being taken, and the gym leader knew that while avoiding the opponent's moves was a good thing, to completely avoid all damage and take no risks wasn't. He often found that you almost always had to feel a little pain to get the best attacks in. Besides, just avoiding everything made battles so very dull. Plus Pikachu may be fast, but it wasn't even close to being one of the fastest and there were an awful lot of Pokemon he would struggle to dodge. He himself had some pretty fast Pokemon. "Kairi, I would advise you to stop trusting dodging so much. Sentret, another Defense Curl then Quick Attack."

Sentret could see hos trainer's point in that his opponent did seem to rely a lot on Pikachu being able to dodge. He himself could probably move faster than the mouse if need be. Besides, the trainer seemed to be babying her Pokemon a little with that, too. Sentret attempted to use his Quick Attack to rush right through the Shock Wave so Pikachu wouldn't see him coming, but the paralysis held him tight and he snarled in pain as the electric attack shook his body. He could see Atann shaking his head. The Sentret couldn't move to attack, so instead made his Defense Curl a good one which raised his defence stat more than usual.

"Kairi, I would advise you to stop trusting dodging so much. Sentret, another Defense Curl then Quick Attack." Atann said. What he said didn't really effect Kairi that much, as others have told her the same thing, before so she was used to rude comments like these. She knew what Atann was trying to do. She was trying to make Kairi lose her cool, so she'd let her guard down. But that wouldn't happen. When Sentret was too paralyzed to move but raised it's defense stat, Kairi says,"Now, let's show Sentret our Quick Attack, Pikachu! Then use Tail Whip to cancel out the Defense Curl!" Pikachu ran at Sentret using Quick Attack and Tail Whip hoping to hit. Since Sentret was paralyzed, it was almost granted that the attack would hit.

ooc// Er, I don't think I did insult Kairi... the comment Atann said which Kairi thought was 'rude' was intended to be him giving her a little constructive critisism. I read it through, and it doesn't seem at all rude to me. Rude would be something like 'you're an idiot'.

ic// Atann watched, face deep in concentration. He was watching the batte play out carefully, aware of the fact that it had been going on for some time now and that both Pokémon would be weakening. He needed to get in a few strong moves quickly, to knock Pikachu down even closer to fainting. He knew he could do this; he'd done it a lot of times before. Pikachu was a strong Pokémon, but he pretty much matched Sentret in strength. Atann didn't know what other Pokémon Kairi had in store, but hopefully they'd all prove interesting, challenging opponents.

Sentret watched as Pikachu came for him in the Quick Attack, struggling to move against his frozen, tensed muscles. This was rather annoying him. He managed a few stiff movements, but quite obviously it was nowhere near enough to save him from the racing mouse. The Electric type slammed into the ferret at great speed, making Sentret tumble over and groan in pain. Thankfully, the paralysis had lifted for that turn, but he knew it could come back at any moment. Getting back to his feet, Sentret felt his defense lower almost back down to how it had previously been thanks to the Tail Whip, giving a little growl as he did so.

Atann took a deep breath. Sentret was clearly weakened now, but of course Pikachu had taken some nasty hits too. That meant that both Pokémon would be feeling bad right now, but from what he could see that Quick Attack had made Sentret a little weaker than Pikachu. He could be wrong, of course. "Sentret, we can still do this! Use a Defense Curl before springing into a Scratch!" the gym leader called.

Sentret obeyed without question, too tired to argue. He curled into a tight ball, feeling his defense rise back again. He took his time, taking perfect aim and recovering from that last attack. He uncurled himself in one sudden movement, the force of which propelling the ferret at a fast speed at Pikachu. This meant that when he started running, he had had a good start and was now running at a much faster speed than usual, claws at the ready to slash out at the mouse. It looked like he was likely to hit, but making contact with an Electric type could be a bad thing. Sentret knew that Pikachu might try to shock him from a close range, but he was desperate to cause the mouse pain so advanced with his claws anyway.
