Alexis shuddered and pulled her large fluffy hood more over her face and tucking her large ears further back into it to prevent any more rain from getting at her. Sure it blocked out most of her vision but the lab mustn't have been too far ahead now, right? She lifted her head slowly, gazing at the large building. This is where her nerves started to get the better of her. Alexis paused in her tracks and lifted a shaking hand, balled into a fist, and pressed it against her mouth. "Maybe... If I come back another day... The professor might be busy..." The worrying thoughts filled her head and were pecking at her brain like a group of angry birds. "No. If I'm going to do this, it needs to be done now, not later. I'll only be worrying if I put it off any longer." Alexis whispered words of encouragement to herself and set her hand back down to her side and continued on her way up to the Lab.

She thought that maybe if she began to think about what kind of Pokémon she wanted when she got there, it would be a lot quicker for herself and the professor. "Fire type? Hm, no. Far too bold and brash. Grass? No, just no." She began talking to Beta through her mind hearing faint mews and growls every now and again. She chuckled to herself and grumbled "I can pull off enough electric type moves myself... So they’re out too, I guess." She began to ponder on her favourite Pokémon types, she had always loved water types for the elegance that most had and most of the others that weren’t as elegant were cute or funny, it was then it clicked in her mind "That’s it! Beta! I’m going to choose a Water Pokémon! " Beta growled and sighed in her mind, knowing that she was going to start a losing battle and then Alexis grinned, feeling more confident and continued to walk up to the labs.

It felt that all too suddenly the rain came crashing down a lot harder than before. "Ugh, what a day to forget my bloody umbrella." Alexis thought as she glanced around and pulled her hood tighter around her head. Before the nerves set in yet again Alexis started humming one of her favourite songs and picked up her pace into a slight sprint, she didn't want to be caught out any longer in this awful downpour and before she knew it she had reached the door of the Lab. She bit her lip and raised her hand to knock on the door, hesitating at the last second she turned and had one quick glance at the terrible weather that would be awaiting her if she were to turn around and give up now.

"Oh, to hell with it." She grumbled to herself, turned back to the door, breathed in deep and pounded twice on the door "Um. Uh. Hello? Please may I come in, the weather's soaking me right through to the bone." She shuddered, only just realizing how cold she really was. She hugged herself tightly and hoped that she wouldn't be kept waiting too long.

The professor hearing the door being knocked on hurried to the door forgetting to turn on the light as she rushed through the room almost tripping over a chair in the process, then tripping over another chair. Getting up she tried again and slipped on some magazines on the floor. Scrambling up to her feet just in time to hear the girl say something from behind the door. Opening it up she saw a Luxio-morph at the door soaking wet by the rain.

Slightly surprised by the sudden downpour she got out of the way of the entrance and gestured the girl to come in. Staring at the rain lost in thought then remembered the girl who apparently had not came in and said, "Come on in, I promise I won't bite." Soon after she said this a bolt of lightning lit up the sky illuminating the room which the professor had forgotten to turn the light on in and illuminated the room behind her showing the stuff inside.

After hearing the loud clattering from inside, Alexis sighed in relief that someone was actually in there and as soon as the door opened she smiled to the Professor who's thought's seemed distant as she looked past Alexis into the unpredicted weather.

As the large lightning bolt lit up the sky, spooking Alexis, she whimpered and lept into the Lab, besides the Professor and buring her face into her hands for a few moments. After coming to her senses, she coughed, looked to the Professor and smiled again, pulling down her hood while taking a glance around the large lab.

"I'm here to choose a Pokémon? But if you're busy I could come back later?" She questioned before shoving her hands into her pockets and getting ready to leave the Professor in peace. Although, she was really wanting to get her Pokémon now, to see how it felt like to be a trainer and even if it took her a lifetime Alexis was eager to see whether she could be loved by the Pokémon she chose or not.

The Professor smiled and switched on the light, after noticing that it wasn't on. Gesturing she lead the girl into the next room where she turned around and looked at the girl.

The room which she lead the girl in had a lab like environment the walls were a shiny white. Also there was several machines which had flashing lights and appeared to be doing something. As well to the right of professor A.B. was a filing cabinet, this is where all the starter pokemon were sitting in pokeballs filed to their species. This allowed professor A.B to be able to find them quickly and easily.

Smiling the professor said, "Of course I'm not busy for new trainers, I'll always have time." Then paused clapping her hands together, "Now have you any idea what pokemon you want we have several, some are even Shinies, however we don't have any Luxios, just if you're wondering."

After listening to the Professor talking for a while, Alexis' eyes lit up at the mentioning of Shiny Pokémon but she decided to try and keep her excitement to herself by answering to the fact that there were no Luxio's up for grabs, "Oh, no, that's fine, I can pretty much do the work of a Luxio myself." She giggled gesturing to her large ears and swaying her tail.

"But I was wondering if you had any water Pokémon?" Alexis questioned, hoping she didn't sound too rude and rested her hand on her shoulder and her head on top of that. Then as she was thinking about what Pokémon she might meet, she stopped and offered out the hand she was resting her head on out to the Professor "Sorry, my name is Alexis Mallen." She said as she smiled excitedly to the Professor.

"Oh, my name is Professor Apple Blossom. Nice to meet you, Alexis," the Professor replied, smiling back and shaking the offered hand. "Yes, we have several Water types: Squirtle, Totodile, Mudkip, Piplup, and an Airore-exclusive Pokemon known as Flapool." Glancing around for a moment, she found what she was looking for and passed Alexis a folder with the Starter Pokemon information.

"You can look through that and decide which ones you'd like to see first," A.B. said, moving over to the file cabinet. "If you don't find what you're looking for in the first batch, you can ask to see some others."

"Thank you, Professor." Alexis replied as she took the files of information on the water starters from the Professor. After choosing her three favourites out of the five, she decided to read more about them before choosing a definate one to see as she didn't want to mess the Prof. around.

Mudkip;

"To alert it, the fin on its head senses the flow of water. It has the strength to lift boulders."

Totodile;

"Despite its small body, Totodile's jaws are very powerful. While it may think it is just playfully nipping, its bite has enough strength to cause serious injury."

Piplup;

"Because it is very proud, it hates accepting food from people. Its thick down guards it from cold. It doesn't like to be taken care of. It's difficult to bond with since it won't listen to its Trainer. "

Almost immediately Alexis knew that she'd love to travel with a Totodile, even Beta seemed to approve with slight purring and nuzzling. So Alexis turned to the Professor, with a wide grin on her face; "I'd love to see the Totodiles." She gave a sigh of excotement, she simply couldn't wait to meet her new companion.

The professor gently took the folder from the Pokemorphs hand. While she was putting away the folder she also took out 3 pokeballs. Wondering all the while if the girl was a Electric type pokemorph, why didn't she ask for an electric type instead of a water type? However the professor knew that this was not her decision to uphold and shrugged it off, then opened the pokeballs one by one to reveal the pokemon inside. Among the pokemon was one shiny and two regular pokemon. The shiny Totodile looked around, and instantally noticed the trainer, and jumped at her trying to latch his jaws on the ears of the pokemorph. The other two Totodiles were less rowdy and simply looked up the the trainer seeing what she looked like. One of them however aproched the trainer slowly then lunged for the leg. While the other stayed back watching from a distance.

Alexis was so excited when the Professor released the Pokémon from their Pokéballs but let out a quietened and panicked shriek when two of the Totodile's lept at her and she stepped backwards trying to avoid the snapping jaws. She caught the Shiny Totodile as it lept for her ears and stepped out of the way of the other that was going for her leg and then curled her tail up close into her back and pulled up her hood, shoving her ears back into it in the process.

"Are they normally this rowdy?" She asked breathlessly but then looked at the Shiny Totodile she had stopped from eating her ears to the normal one that tried to take a bite out of her leg, the shiny one seemed most energetic but, it was a beautiful colour but would she be ready for such a challenge? She was normally up for something like this especially when it came to Pokémon but this Totodile was something else.

After a while, she noticed the other Totodile that was in the corner that just seemed more curious and still trying to keep hold of the Shiny Totodile and keeping an eye on the other one she scooted over to the other Totodile and slowly and cautiously lowered her tail and petted it as she dare not let the Shiny out of her hands "Well, you all definately are a bunch of energetic cuties, aren't you?" She giggled and automatically wanted to take all of them away with her, even though she knew the Professor would be against this.

The Professor smiled, and replied, "Yes they usually are very active, and as you have seen enjoy biting things." Then shivered a bit remembering how many times Totodiles had bitten her, she had the scars to show it. Then smiling, she said, "I'm sorry but I can't let you take all of them, try to choose just one." The one Totodile that hadn't bitten the trainer yet was smaller than all the others, and was a runt. The Shiney was the largest, while the other regular colored pokemon was the average size of a Totodile and the average mind as well.

The "other" Totodile liked the petting and didn't bite for a few seconds, however he still did biting the hand gently, hardly putting any force into the bite. However he slightly gnawed on the hand gently, almost lovingly.

"Hm, I see." Alexis giggled as the smallest one starting nibbling gently on her hand "Well, I was set on bringing home a shiny but you're just to cute to leave behind." She smiled and petted the smaller, quieter one again "Maybe, if the nice Professor lets me, I'll take you away with me."

She stood up straight and turned to the Professor, still holding the Shiny under her arm, tail curled up under the cloak and still watching the more average sized one out of the corber of her eye. "I'd love to take that little cutie home with me, then I'll be able to take him and get out of your hair finally." She smiled and then confidently put down the largest Totodile and picked up the runt, petting him and whispering to him about what kind of adventures they would get into together and possibly meeting new friends along the way.

The professor smiled and quickly got all the other Totodiles into the pokeballs before they could bite the pokemorph or her. The professor smiled and thought, "This one took the one that she liked the personality the most, not the shiny powerful one, most trainers take the shiny." Then she handed the girl the pokeball that the Totodile was in as well as some items that she might need on her quest.

Alexis smiled wildly as she took her Totodile and all of her belongings from the Professor, thanking her a million times over as she did. Alexis knew she had felt a connection with her and her Totodile, so as soon as she had left and told the Professor goodbye, she released her Pokémon from the ball and picked him up, cradling him in her arms and set off for the next town.

The weather was still rather dull, but the rain had stopped so she uncurled her tail, pulled down her hood and let her long jet black hair run long and loose down her back "Hm, I'm going to nickname you Leon. It just seems fitting..." She smiled and carried on walking with the Totodile chunnering happily in her arms "Even though you're so small and cute, I'll make a champ out of you." And this was a promise Alexis was certain she'd keep.
