"Oh boy oh boy oh boy!" [/color] These words came from the mouth of a very excited and very enthusiastic young girl, a Butterfree Pokemorph to be even more specific. "Today's the day! Man, this is gonna be awesome, I just know it!"[/color] the girl, who you may or may not recognize as Katy Hawkins, exclaimed, an almost insanely happy grin on her face. By her side was her faithful companion, Arjay the Viecoon, who was just as excited as she was. <Yeah, I know! I can't wait for someone new to play with!>[/color] the raccoon Pokemon replied, smirking. Clearly they both had too much sugar this morning. Katy was alternating between running and flying, with Arjay keeping pace next to her. After only recently arriving in Airore, they were finally going to get Katy's starter Pokemon. Then it would be off on a new adventure, as usual. Within minutes the hyperactive duo arrived at the lab. Katy could barely contain her excitement as she knocked thrice in succession on the door. ic// Professor Apple Blossom heard the knock at the door. Things had quietened down at the lab, and it seemed that it was starting to become a little more popular recently. That was a good thing for the Pokemon, she supposed. The woman hurried over to answer the door, smiling as she found a very excited young Butterfree Pokemorph standing and waiting with a Veicoon. Wait, if she already had a Pokemon, then why did she need a starter? Then again, plenty of people just had Pokemon for companions but still came for a fighter, a suitable one to start a journey with. Besides, if her lab was becoming more popular, she certainly wasn't going to complain.
"Hello, and welcome to AB Labs. I'm Professor Apple Blossom, but most people prefer to call me AB. Do come in." the woman with her bouncing red hair introduced herself with a warm and welcoming smile. She was a very friendly person who you could feel very comfortable and safe around, unlike some scientists who were just antisocial. She led the way further into the room, closing the door behind Katy so not to let out too much of the wonderful refreshingly cool air conditioned air of the lab. The room itself seemed nice, with a large space to see Pokemon, big windows and a soft hum of the air conditioning.
"Well, we have a lot of different Pokemon here, of all different varieties. Which one would you like?" Ab asked, hoping Katy had at least thought 'oh hey, I'm ging to the lab, perhaps I should know what starter I can get'. After all, she really hated when people didn't even know what was on offer. Besides, the starters were printed on a massive poster.

"Hi! I'm Katy Hawkins. Nice to meet you, Professor!" Katy said cheerfully, smiling back at her and carefully folding her wings. ((ooc// Based on an actual butterfly. I don't know if Butterfree can actually do that.))
AB closed the door behind her and led the way further into the room. "Well, we have a lot of different Pokemon here, of all different varieties. Which one would you like?" she asked.
Remembering what she had wanted based on one of the lab's posters, without hesitating she replied, "I'd like to see the Treeckos and Torchics, please!" [/color] <What's up? You told me you were going to ask to see Eevee and Pikachu,>[/color] Arjay muttered, jumping up onto her shoulder. "I changed my mind,"[/color] Katy said, smiling and ruffling the fur on his head. Professor AB nodded. Treeckos and Torchics, huh? She personally quite liked both of those, and smiled at Katy. She did vaugely understand the Viecoon, too. Something about Eevees and Pikachus. AB thought that those two were cute, yes, but when it came down to it weren't very good for battling. Plus everyone wanted them. A Torchic or Treecko would have been at the lab far longer and be so much more willing to go along with a new trainer because of it. "I can't show you all the Torchics and Treeckos, but I can show you two of each. Male and female, hm?"
AB then randomly took a male and female of each species' Pokeball, releasing them for Katy to see. The male Treecko was a shiny, as was the female Torchic; the Butterfree 'morph was fairly lucky. The female Treecko seemed quite quiet and timid, moving slowly towards Katy. She wanted to meet the 'morph girl, but was very shy. The male, the shiny, was fairly protective of her, moving next to her for support despite the fact he didn't know her. The male seemed very gentlemanly, polite, kind and friendly. Like most Torchics, the two in the room were more wild. The female shiny rushed about, leaping onto a table where she watched everything, seeming very strong but a little less social. The male on the other hand seemed aggressively sociable, pretty much tackling Katy as he came to greet her.

"Okay, that's fine," [/color] Katy replied, taking a seat on the floor and crossing her legs, watching as the Professor removed four Poke Balls from the file cabinet. Katy's eyes widened in surprise at the appearance of the two shinies, but focused more on their personalities and their reactions. At the sight of the timid female Treecko and the protective male, Katy extended her hand slowly towards them as they came closer. "Hi there,"[/color] Katy said, Arjay leaping off her shoulder and walking over to investigate. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the other shiny Pokemon, the female Torchic, leap up onto a table to look around. However, she neglected to notice the male Torchic until it was too late, and he landed in her lap. Katy laughed and picked him up, ruffling his feathers and setting him back down on the floor. "You seem pretty bouncy,"[/color] Katy said, grinning. "I bet it would be really fun to have you along on our trip."[/color] <If I can make a quick suggestion...>[/color] Arjay commented. <Personally I like the female Treecko and the male Torchic. Both of them seem like really good Pokemon to have. No harm meant, of course, to you others,>[/color] he said, glancing at the other two Pokemon in the room. <But it's your decision.>[/color] Katy sighed. She agreed with Arjay, based on the fact that she too liked the quiet female Treecko and the bouncy male Torchic. But she also liked the male Treecko, with his supportive and friendly attitude. Oh, which to choose! The Butterfree morph sighed again, a bit of a groan mixed in. "Aww... It's so hard to choose. I just want to take you all with me!"[/color] Katy bit her lip, trying to make her decision. Finally it seemed like she had come to a conclusion. She looked at the male Treecko. "Would it be okay if you came with me and Arjay on our trip?"[/color] the young girl asked politely, another smile forming on her face. "I promise it'll be fun!"[/color] [/size][/blockquote] ((Kind of an abrupt ending, in my opinion, but I think I did okay. Lately my muse has been going AWOL on me.)) |

The Torchic giggled as Katy ruffled his feathers. That was a nice feeling. He liked it, and wanted more of it. If she didn't become his trainer, then he wanted one who would ruffle his feathers all the time. The Fire type hopped from one foot to the other impatiently as the 'morph looked between the other Pokémon, trying to decide which to choose. From what he could see, she seemed to be considering him pretty seriously! He liked that, smiling.
When she moved over to the male Treecko and asked him whether he wanted to go along with her and her strange Airore-only Pokémon, Torchic's little shoulders dropped, the only sign of his dissappointment as the rest of him showed signs of being pleased for the Treecko. He didn't mind not getting picked- none of the Pokémon ever did- since AB treated them nicely and they'd all find trainers some day. The Treecko nodded. ~I'd love to go on an adventure! I could protect you so well and get so strong and have sooo much fun!~

Well, she hadn't expected Katy to chose the male Treecko, but it wasn't as if she had anything against it whatsoever. In fact, she thought the two looked kinda cute together. She smiled, picking up the male Torchic, who had taken to nipping her leg gently. "Right, the shiny male Treecko it is! Here's his Pokéball," she managed with difficulty to hand over the Treecko's Pokéball, before returning all the Pokémon to their Pokéballs and handing over a bag, "and some starter's items. Right, you're all set for your journey! Katy grinned when the Treecko nodded.

Katy looked over to the Torchic, her other favorite. He seemed happy for the Treecko, but Katy sensed he had wanted to come along with her as well. She couldn't blame him; it must not be too exciting for the lab Pokemon. 'Maybe we'll see each other again, Mister Torchic,' [/color] Katy thought optimistically, as she often did. "Right, the shiny male Treecko it is!"A.B.'s voice interrupted Katy's musings. "Here's his Pokéball," she said, managing to pass the Treecko's ball over to the Butterfree 'morph, "and some starter's items. Right, you're all set for your journey! Good luck!" The kind professor smiled happily. "Thanks sooooo much, Professor A.B.!"[/color] Katy called, walking to the door with Arjay and her new Treecko shadowing her. "I'll come visit soon, I promise!"[/color] With that, Katy opened the door, and headed for Route 1, leaving the lab behind her. [/size][/blockquote] ((Gonna go ahead and move on to Route 1.
