A Surfing Start

(OOC: Finally started my new character's journey. I'm going to use the same trick that I used when I got shiny Eevee. I used one of my posts from a different RPG and edited it a little. That's ok, right? Shorter then what my posts normally are, but I'm having writter's block, at least I was when this post was first made.)

Our scene opens up to a fifteen year old girl with long light brown reddish hair, surfing on her surf board. She was heading towards the Airore Region, to begin training there as a first class Pokemon Trainer. But this wasn't going to be a pleasure trip for her though. Jamie needed to find out about her mother's death. Afterwards she'd go and live with Victor, her grandfather, in Kanto.

Jamie wondered if her grandfather had even heard about what had happened to her mother. Knowing Victor he probably did. Jamie sighed as she continued on her way towards the Airore Region. She was to head towards the A.B. Labs. No dout the Professor would be expecting her.

Jamie checked her Poketch. It looked as if she was almost in the Airore Region. A few tears fell down her cheek. She remembered that this was what her mother had given her for her birthday a few days ago right before she had been killed.

A few hours later Jamie hit land. She checked the map in her Poketch and followed it until she got to town. "Now let's see here, where is that lab at?" She wondered as she looked around. Once she found the lab she knocked on the door. She had no idea what the starters were or what awaited her.

Professor Apple Blossom heard the knock, and rushed to answer it. She opened it, and saw Jamie standing their. She looked very much like the average new trainer, to a certain extent. She looked sad. That wasn't normal; usually, the new trainers were grinning with excitement. Of course, a few were nervous, mostly the Pokémorphs who were scared of labs, but never sad like they had been crying. "Hello, I'm Professor Apple Blossom." she introduced herself.

Instinctly, she wanted to comfort Jamie. Of course, she didn't know whether that would have a good effect on the girl. After all, some people didn't like being comforted or that sort of thing. Maybe Jamie wanted to keep to herself, or avoid mention what was wrong. Instead, she smiled as kindly as she could, leading her inside. "Well, what Pokémon would you like in mind? If you don't know, I can help, of course." she reasurred her.

Jamie had been crying as she looked down at her Poketch to check the time. Professor Apple Blossom had opened the door while she was crying. Jamie quickly wiped her tears away,"Hello, I'm Professor Apple Blossom." The Professor introduced herself. She had noticed that Jamie had been crying,"Oh! I'm sorry. I'm Jamie Williams. Sorry, about how I look right now. See, the other day my mother was killed by someone. I came to this region to find out who killed her," Jamie explained.

She nodded as Professor Blossom let her in,"I'd also like to help you fill up the Pokedex," she told her, still with a sad look on her face. Maybe meeting the Pokemon would cheer her up,"Well, what Pokémon would you like in mind? If you don't know, I can help, of course." The Professor reasurred her.

Jamie nodded feeling a lot better already. She thought about her choices. Since she's a surfer it would be best to have a water type Pokemon. She looked over the water Pokemon on the list,'Hmm, Squirtle, Totodile, Mudkip, Piplup and Flapool. And Eevee can evolve into Vaporeon,' she kept looking up and down the list before deciding,"I'd like to meet all the water Pokemon please. And I'd also like to see an Eevee." She'd look over all six of them and pick the nicest one.

Ouch, so her mother had been killed. Jamie might have spoken about it, but it had been recent so Professor AB guessed it would be a touchy subject still. Now, she wanted to see all the Water types and an Eevee. Six Pokémon?! That would be very hard to fit in this one room, and it was bound to cause numerous problems. Still, Jamie had wanted it. She fished out six Pokéballs from the drawers, ready to release the Pokémon inside.

Before she did so, she had a few words to say. "Now remember, appearance isn't everything. When it gets down to it, it's personality and basic strength that counts. Now, the Water types are all fairly slow, with Eevee being a little faster and Flapool being the fastest of all. The Water types make up for it with a high attack and defense stat, of course. Also, take the move pool into account; things will be very difficult with an Eevee's limited movepool, and you might want to compare that of the others." she gave Jamie a more technical explanation, before releasing the Pokémon.

Squirtle seemed like a very playful little Pokémon. He bounded up to Jamie and grinned, happily greeting her. Totodile was more of a loner, slightly aggresive but still full of energy. He snapped at Squirtle as he came passed. Mudkip seemed very friendly. He padded up to Jamie, a curious smile on his very cute face. Piplup seemed a lazy Pokémon, settling down among it all. She was just sitting there, eyes half closed. Eevee was a little more active, but was aware of how popular her species were and seemed a bit bossy and obnoxious. Flapool was a very curious, interested Pokémon. She was very curious about Jamie, looking at her with interest. So, which one would Jamie pick?

Jamie saw Professor Blossom, looking like she was trying to figure her out. Or maybe, she just felt sorry for her. Jamie hated that. She hated it when anyone pitied her. She decided to just go ahead and get her starter and get out of here, as she felt akward with the way Professor Blossom, was staring at her,"Just give me my Pokemon already so I can go," Jamie growled, acting kinda rude.

It, was kinda mean, she knew but she was tired of people feeling sorry for her and everywhere she went her family always tried to comfort her. It got pretty annoying after awhile. After all it was her own business to avenge her mother right?

Professor Blossom said, snapping Jamie out of her thoughts. She didn't seem to care that she had just been rude to her.

Jamie looked over her choices here. The Totodile seemed kinda mean, like it wanted to bite her hand off. The Mudkip seemed very friendly. A little too friendly meaning, it must be rather weak. Piplup just seemed like it didn't care about battling or looking good for Contests at all. And the Eevee seemed a bit bossy. Jamie would have trouble controlling it.

Then right away she noticed the Squirtle. It seemed very friendly but not too friendly. It seemed like it was very playful, and wanted to play with her and get to know her better. Jamie patted the Squirtle on the head,"Hi, there little guy. You seem like the type for contests. I'm sure I'll win a lot of Ribbons with you. Would you like a nickname? How about Squirts? It seems to suit you?" She told him. Jamie had made her choice. She was going with the Squirtle.

OOC: Hehe, I just noticed Jamie's way different then Kairi. While Kairi doesn't mind people helping her out and feeling sorry for her, Jamie just wants people to mind there own business. The way, Jamie's acting kinda reminds me of Sasuke, from Naruto, when he wanted to avenge his parents death and wanted everyone else to stay out of it.

ic// To be honest, Professor AB was quite relieved when Jamie chose the Squirtle over the others. She had been hoping Jamie wouldn't pick the Eevee, and it seemed she was being sensible and picking the best Pokémon for her. Good, she had had people here who had been blinded by a Pokémon's looks or popularity. The Professor returned the other Pokémon, the Flapool and Mudkip being the only ones looking disappointed. AB was still a little cautious of Jamie after her outburst.

She didn't return the chosen Squirtle, since she felt it would be best if the trainer could have some time to bond with her Pokémon, and the Squirtle seemed to be pretty happy to be outside. She handed over the Water type's Pokéball, then gathered up some starter's items for the new trainer. She gave them to Jamie as well, then stepped back and smiled. "There we go. You're all set to go on journey. Goodbye, and good luck!" she waved, wishing the new trainer the best of luck as it was time for Jamie to head out to Route One.
