Appearance:
Skyler's hair is a pale blue, cut choppy. It just barely reaches his neck, and many bangs are falling over his eyes. Over his left eye hangs a thick bang, his natural hair color; a washed-out shade of blond. His skin is relatively pale, and easily burned by sunlight. There Skyler's eyes are naturally blue, but he wears purple contacts most of the time. Around his eyes, the skin is very pink. The same goes for the tips of his fingers, and his nose. He's very skinny, with little-to-no toning in his muscles.
Skyler wears a purple vest with one sleeve, that being on his right arm. The material fits snugly and the sleeve is slightly frayed at the seams, as if he sewed it himself. His pants are a vivid red color, and the right leg is misshapen for no apparent reason, creating a slight problem when he walks fast or runs. The pants are made of a soft material, and fit very close to his skin. An orange scarf hangs from one of his pockets, and he uses it for his magic tricks. His belt is neon green, and matches his sneakers, which are accented with a stripe of the same red that's on his pants. Skyler wears cheap-looking leather brown gloves, with holes in the fingers. They are slightly too small, but his hands fit well enough.
For colder weather, Skyler puts on a tightly-fitting blue long sleeve shirt under his vest, and wears the scarf from his pockets around his neck.
Personality:
Skyler's personality can be quite colorful. On a good day, he's loud, slightly flamboyant, and extremely talkative. He'll strike up a conversation with anybody, and he tries to befriend everybody. Skyler's open minded, extremely confident, and never misses a chance to 'strut his stuff'. He can show signs of vanity, but is never rude to others who he may not consider as attractive as him. Skyler's always loved a good card trick, and perpetually carries a deck of cards because of it. When bored, he'll play with them.
Skyler is a great entertainer, and loves to be the center of attention. When angry, Skyler can say hurtful things, but knows when to apologize, and how to do it well. He's flirtatious with everyone, being bisexual. Even though his outside may seem aloof and playful most of the time, sometimes Skyler can be a pain. He's incredibly determined with everything he does, a trait he shares with his sister, Chelsea. Skyler will always defend his strong sense of individuality. He's also got a strong sense of pride, and is quite the tactician. He thinks every decision through to the fullest extent, and weighs every pro and con before he does anything. Skyler hates to cook, and loves a good argument. He speaks his mind constantly, and isn't afraid of physical confrontation. He enjoys the fact that people underestimate him because of his appearance, but Skyler is a decent fighter. He defends those he loves to the most extreme degree, and takes responsibility for his younger sister, even though they aren't related by blood.
History:
Skyler Keith Raylyn was adopted when he was two by the Raylyn family. Chelsea, the family's biological daughter, was only one year old when their parents brought Skyler home. At first, Chelsea and Skyler didn't get along that well, fighting as they both grew older. Eventually, they began to work it out, befriending each other and forming a bond that would probably never be broken. Skyler seemed to cling more to his father as he aged, and learned some of his dad's less favorable traits, just as Chelsea did.
As a teenager, Chelsea's father had gone through a bout of theft, and learned a few less-than-great skills. He taught some of what he knew to his children, feeling that it'd probably come in handy one day. Lock and pocket-picking seemed to come more naturally to Skyler than Chelsea, however, for he seemed to have a natural affinity for slight of hand. This became even more apparent when Skyler saw a magician perform at a party, and became even more infatuated with the idea of trickery. He took to carrying around a deck of cards, and creating his own magic tricks. Skyler also took more of an interest in his mother's job as a nurse than Chelsea did, and would watch attentively as his mom patched up wounded pokemon. He learned to love being around pokemon, and adored his mother's.
After mastery of tricks became his goal, Skyler also began to aim to be able to entertain any and everybody around him, as he once saw that magician do. He wants to one day be able to even do magic in conjunction with his pokemon, and add his own flair to their moves in battle. With this goal, however, has come a fear of failure. Skyler is scared of failing in front of a crowd, or not being able to entertain them as he wishes. Another fear of his is that one day, somebody will find out the secret behind one of his more mysterious tricks.
