A leaf drifted to the ground.
A boy's foot stepped on it, crunching the crisp golden brown material beneath the thin sandal which separated it from the ground. The boy, stark white, glided effortlessly across the grass. Anyone would mistake him for a ghost, or perhaps even an angel. His red eyes scanned the scene ahead of him, his deathly pale skin strange, unusual. His pure white hair was ruffled by a light breeze. However, none of these were the reason one might assume him to be an angel. True, his face, other than the colouring, was rather handsome, but that still was not the reason. True, a Tailow as white as he was was singing about his head. Still not the reason. The reason was his wings. Great, white feathers covered the massive limbs half-unfurled to catch the sun's rays.
A Growlithe dashed up to him, a Stableye coming at him from the other side. The Tailow, Vivime, his daemon, his soul, twittered in warning. He stopped, and looked around. He was tackled by the Growlithe while the Stableye chuckled from a distance. "Hinote, Nox, there you are!" he laughed as Hinote the Growlithe gave him a lick. ~Hihi, Connor! We were hiding! Always nearby, though, promise!~ he yipped proudly, creamy bushy tail thumping the ground, golden yellow coat shining in the sun. Nox the Stableye nodded in agreement to his claims, before frowning, his sharp jeweled eyes fixed on something ahead.
Connor followed his gaze. Either he needed new contacts, or Nox had very keen eyesight; he couldn't see anything unusual. Hinote seemed puzzled, too. "Something up, Nox?" he asked as Vivime settled into his arms, in her Eevee form. The Ghost type nodded, walking over to a bush. Connor and Hinote exchanged curious glances, before rushing over to meet him.
Nox reached down into the bush, pointing to something up with a clawed paw. Connor had a look. As he bent down, brushing aside a brocken twig that was still hanging from the branch as though someone had been there earlier, his eyes widened. "Who would do this..." he murmured. Before him were two Pokéballs, nestled in a hollow in the ground. A little slip of paper was over them- in one of those see-through plastic envalopes, to endure rain. It read 'I do not wish to waste any more time training these whimps any more. If you read this, you can keep 'em, OK?' in a rushed scrawl. Hinote's fur bristled and he spat, disgusted. "I'll second to that feeling, Hinote. Well, let's see what we have here, shall we not?" Connor spoke in his usual British voice, releasing the Pokémon inside.
The two Pokémon emerged at once. Connor blinked; a Kimiko and a Buizel. Not the most common of Pokémon. And Buizel was a shiny, too. Even less common. Kimiko looked about fearfully, and, seeing Hinote, Nox and Connor, let out a small, high pitched, strangled scream and hid behind Buizel. Buizel looked about, on full alert, and narrowed his eyes eyes at Connor. He seemed very much inclined to protect Kimiko.
Connor watched, not sure what to say. Kimiko were exclusive to Airore, from what he'd learned shuffling through the species of Pokémon in his Pokédex which he hadn't recognized. And Buizel, well, apart from not usually being found in these parts, was a shiny. Two unusual Pokémon. He wouldn't abandon any Pokémon, and he knew that most people wouldn't abandon a shiny. Why? A big question. He extended a hand in greeting. "Er, hello, there. My name's Connor, Connor Kaikera. I picked up your Pokéballs." he said.
Buizel stared at Connor's hand until it dropped. He folded his arms. ~And my name's Mizuki, but that doesn't make me special. Ika here and I were abandoned, okay? I guess you must be our new trainer. What makes you different from all the others, then?~ he said simply, clearly not too impressed.
Connor nodded. What made him different? He could think of lots of things. Some of which he didn't really feel comfortable with telling a couple of strangers. After all, they could have been placed there as a trap. ~Well, Mizuki, for one thing, I can understand your words.~ he said in Pokémon tongue.
Mizuki raised an eyebrow, and Ika gasped, mouth open in shock. ~W-w-wow! You actually understand what-t-t I'm saying?! That's incredibly fantastic! And y-you called M-Mizuki by his r-real name! Our old t-trainer just called us 'Buizel' and 'Kimiko'.~ the shy Kimiko, Ika, spoke before he could. Connor smiled. ~There are other things I can do, too.~ he winked, cupping his hands. A small fire sprang to life inside them.
Mizuki actually seemed impressed. ~Maybe you are... suitable.~ he muttered softly. It seemed that Connor had a new addition to his team. Ika grinned. ~H-how did you do that?~ she asked, eyes shining in wonderment. Connor shrugged, smiling. He supposed these Pokémon were his companions now, his family. They could know. And so, he told them. He told them how he was from another world. How he was a Ho-oh Pokémorph. He spoke everything.
After all, there was nothing around to listen other than themselves, right?

Wrong.
There was another, easily within earshot of Connor and the trio of Pokemon at his side. It didn't have much in the way of camouflage, but within the shadow of the tree it rested under, not many would have noticed it anyway. Red eyes shone in the sunlight. The Pokemon stood up, dusted itself off for no reason, and walked out of its "hiding" place.
The Mawile grinned using both mouths, creating a sort of creepy feel to the Pokemon. Its eyes narrowed as its gaze roamed over Vivime, Mizuki, and Ika, completely ignoring Nox and Hinote.
<Well well, what do we have here?> Mawile said, cracking her knuckles in anticipation of a fight. <A brat from another world, a Pokemon that calls herself his soul, and two little weaklings. What a bore.>
Mawile walked closer, deliberately making each step slower than normal, her jaws parted in an eerily amused grin.
<Though I would like to see another world's battle techniques. How 'bout it? You got anything good to show me?> The Steel-type slipped into an odd stance, one that said she was relaxed, but in reality her body was tense as a coiled cobra, ready to strike at any moment.

ooc// The text is fine, no worries.
ic// Vivime hissed as Mawile badmouthed them. What gave her the right to strut around like she was the boss of everything? She wished she could show her a lesson. Then again, Connor was a trainer now- she could. Smiling in satisfaction, she became a tall, muscular Charizard. Roaring, she moved to Connor's side, eyes gleaming. Why had she done that? Well, just to scare Mawile, really. Not many people remained perfectly calm, at least not in this world, when a cute little Eevee suddenly transformed into an angry, roaring Charizard.
Connor rested a hand on Hinote's head, standing as tall as he could. He clenched his jaw. This Pokémon was either hiding true feelings or was a really, really big jerk. And if she wanted a battle, then he'd give her one. And he would make sure she'd learn a lesson and wouldn't win. He wondered what Pokémon to use. Mawile's resistance to Normal, Dark and Ghost type moves meant that Nox wouldn't be useful, but Hinote's Ember attack would be super effective. "Hinote, let's go! Ember!" he called, and the golden Growlithe sprang into action.
A thin flame errupted from the dog's mouth, spraying towards Mawile. The flames were the attack, and they were moving very quickly towards the Steel type.

Mawile stepped back in alarm as she saw Vivime transform, but quickly recovered. After all, she was kind of like a Mew or a Ditto, right? She went back into her stance, regarding Connor coolly. 'He must be thinking about which of his Pokemon to use.' Mawile thought. She already knew he would pick his Fire-type.
Her prediction was proven correct when Hinote leaped forward, embers streaming from his maw. 'Well, now I need to thank that old man.' Mawile thought as she stepped back.
She may be a Steel type, but by no means was she afraid of fighting a Fire type. Mawile knew the perfect move.
<Rock Slide!> Mawile called, summoning a large quantity of boulders and hurling them at Hinote. They blocked the Ember, but Mawile was at the wrong angle to see if her attack actually did any damage. Hinote could have dodged just as the rocks hid him from her vision. Back in her stance, she prepared to bring up more boulders in case Hinote had dodged the attack.

Hinote acted on instinct, leaping away from the Rock Slide. Connor smiled, relieved when he emerged all right. Hm, Mawile was right about her strengh, but he supposed it was no reason to be cocky, right? And did Mawile usually learn Rock Slide? No, he didn't think so. Not by Egg Move, either. So, that must mean that this lucky Pokémon had somehow got her hands on a TM. Well, they'd have to be careful. Who knew what other tricks Mawile had up her sleeve? "Hinote, leap over the rocks for Ember!" the albino called.
The golden furred Growlithe let a snarl emerge from his throat, tail hanging low. His ears were flicked back, too. He pushed off against the ground, leaping to the rocks. He knew this made him an easy target, but they had to try, anyway. Spraying a jet of flames as fast as he could, he hoped that this time, the Ember wasn't stopped.

Mawile whirled around just in time to see the golden Growlithe leaping toward her once more, using his Ember attack again. This time, however, the Steel-type was too slow to dodge the attack, and while the summoned rocks helped stop a few of the little motes, Mawile was hit with the main part of the attack, taking a nice even chunk out of her HP level.
Mawile was knocked to the ground. Small droplets of clear liquid ran down her cheeks. She was crying.
'Fake Tears. Hopefully this'll work.' Mawile thought, the tears streaking down her face in an attempt to lower Hinote's Special Defense, therefore making him less resistant to her Rock Slide. Suddenly, the tears stopped, and a wonderful, flowery scent filled the air as Mawile stood up and dusted herself off again. Flower petals came out of nowhere and danced merrily in a light breeze. 'And now for Sweet Scent. Pretty nice combo, if I do say so myself! I'll wait for the puppy's next move, then I'll show him what I can really do!' Mawile hid a cocky grin behind a black hand, while the horn-jaws on her head formed themselves into that eerily amused grin. This was going to be an interesting battle.

Hinote felt a pang of pity as he saw the tears leak from Mawile's eyes. Oh, the poor thing was crying! He let out a low howl as he saw this, for it made him fairly sad himself. He'd made her cry, which wasn't good at all. He felt his stat lower sneakily, realizing that this was in fact the move Fake Tears. He came to his senses, snarling angrily at the fact that he'd fallen for a silly trick like that. Then gave the most glorious wave of smell ever, which calmed him and made him not want to move from this spot. After all, was there any point in moving? No, there was not.
Connor frowned. This wasn't too good. Mawile was the type to use a bunch of stat lowering moves, and then attack in a way which somehow dealt an insanely large amount of damage. a trickster, no doubt. Vivime could see this too, her grip on the 'morph's shoulder tightening in her anxiety. The 'morph looked determined, thinking of a way he could win despite any sneaky moves. For now, he could only attack and hope it worked. "Ember!" he called.
Hinote hesitated. Why bother? Well, he supposed that his trainer had told him to use Ember. Connor was smart, and Hinote trusted him. The Growlithe would remain loyal. He breathed a small flame and shot it towards the Steel type with the big jaw, although he deliberately made it weaker than before.

'Gotcha.'
Easily doing a cartwheel-like flip out of the way of the embers, Mawile filled the air with Sweet Scent once again, almost ensuring that Hinote would stay put, after seeing his initial reaction to the flowery smell.
With the scent in the air, Mawile swirled around and dragged up more rocks, and flung them at her Growlithe opponent.
She caught herself before she threw the last rock. 'Mustn't get too cocky, now!' She allowed herself a satisfied smirk before checking to see if Hinote was hit. If he had been hit, then this battle should be over relatively quickly, and if not, well, no big deal. Right? ((Sorry I haven't been on lately. ))

ooc// It's all right, Starfire. We all have our inactivity here and there.
ic// Hinote sniffed the Sweet Scent, and a smile of extreme calm passed over his face. He did not move, simply standing there, feeling very peaceful. He was at ease there, simply standing still, eyelids partially closed. He watched the world with a dull mind as a number of very painful rocks collided with him. He whined in pain as he shrank to the ground, watching with alarm as they pelted to him or the ground. That snapped everything back into perspective for him. He snarled, furious, at Mawile. Urgh! He couldn't believe he'd fallen for that!
Connor was none too pleased. He had been right. Mawile was indeed the sort to lower her opponent's stats right down and then attack. She'd stopped Hinote from dodging, then attacked. Coward. He gritted his teeth. He supposed it was a good thing that Hinote was back in his right mind, but still... he wasn't too pleased with Mawile's fighting style. Well, if she needed to disable her opponent in order to hit them, then they would just have to not get disabled, then. "Hinote, Leer then Ember!" he called, disguising his emotions very well.
Hinote nodded very slightly, the shiny locking eyes with Mawile. Dirty weirdo. She was about to get a taste of her own medicine! His gaze became more threatening, more of a glare which would be enough to lower anyone's Defense stat through fear. When the dog was satisfied, he sent a wave of Ember attack at his opponent, attacking without warning. He smiled as he watched to see if Mawile would feel pain from this Ember attack, hoping that it would hit it's target.

'Yes! Score!' Mawile thought gleefully. What a wimpy little puppy, put down so soon.
Though, not at all, she realized, when Hinote stood back up, clearly no longer under the effects of Sweet Scent.
"Hinote, Leer then Ember!"
Mawile stepped back in alarm as she felt her Defense stat drop. Things seemed to slow down for her as she watched Hinote's flames sneak closer and closer to her. She flung the remaining rock, in a desperate attempt to hit the orange motes, therefore stopping them from reaching her. She missed.
Mawile made an attempt to dodge, but she tripped, the Ember hitting her on her left shoulder. She winced and looked at the angry red skin. God, it freaking hurt! Then she realized it; she was Burned, and she had no Rawst Berry to cure her.
<Rrrgh... stupid puppy... I'll... show you...> Mawile growled through gritted teeth. Behind her the jaws coming from the back of her head formed the same grimace.
<Bite!> she cried, leaping forward, the jaws on her head wide open, and exposing gleaming white teeth. Mawile knew it was probably a bad idea getting in close to Hinote, making it easier for him to hit her with another Ember, but her ego was bruised now, and she wasn't happy with it. No she was not. This puppy was going to pay.

ooc// Do you have the time to mod Sulteron's thread, please? Linkeh
ic// A smile played at Hinote's golden muzzle, the puppy a cheery yip of glee. Hooray, a Burn! That meant that Mawile would suffer damage on every turn, right? Fantastic, that was just what he'd been looking for! A bonus, too, was the fact that pride seemed to have blinded Mawile. Oh, thank Arceus. This was a very, very good thing. Pride meant that Mawile was more likely to be fighting without thinking- ah, yes. Proof of that was right there as Hinote found, with a howl of pain, that Mawile's oversized jaw was clamped down on his back.
Connor's face lit up as he saw things turn around in his favour. Brilliante. This was what he'd been waiting for. Not really, because he hadn't been expecting it, but he had been hoping for a good oppertunity. Whatever, he should just concentrate. This was his first battle, and he wanted to win. He was pleased to see that Mawile not only had a Burn, but was also a little out of control with rage and damaged ego. This was his chance, and he would sieze it. "Hinote, endure it. Use an Ember to blast Mawile away." he said in his perfectly calm English accent.
The Growlithe nodded, gritting his teeth and hanging on. He could do this, right? The pain... there was a lot of pain. Painful, nasty pain. He didn't like that, but he had to hold on. Connor had said so, and Connor would never give him false information, right? The Pokémon obeyed. Sitting still yet still whimpering in pain, he summoned as much energy as possible into this Ember. He couldn't fail this. If he did, then it was likely that Mawile could take him down... he didn't think he had all that much strength left in him.

((Okay, let's see if I can find a decent muse today. -cracks knuckles- X3))
'Stupid puppy, see how you like it!' Mawile thought, not relinquishing her hold on her Growlithe opponent. She smiled, satisfied for the moment.
The Steel-type clenched her jaws, and was about to flip Hinote over her head when said Fire-type launched another Ember. She was caught completely off guard, not to mention that the embers hit her Burned shoulder. Crying out in pain, she unintentionally released Hinote from his vice, only to collapse in the dead leaves.
'Ohh... Fire... not good...' she thought blearily. She looked at Hinote and his Trainer through cloudy eyes. Mawile groaned. <Just get it... over with... already...> she mumbled, anxiously anticipating the familiar darkness of unconsciousness.
Would Hinote's Trainer, Connor, capture her, or would he just leave her on the ground, awaiting whatever curveball fate was going to throw at her? ((Well, that was okay, I think. I really hate that last sentence though. X3))

Hinote watched Mawile carefully, nudging her with the end of his nose to be sure that she wasn't faking it. No, she was actually and definately genuinely defeated. That meant... he'd won his first ever battle! Yipping his joy, the shiny's tail wipped from one side to the other in a furious wagging motion. He was exausted, but overjoyed with his little victory.
Connor smiled, and punched the air. Vivime switched from a Charizard into a Pidgey, fluttering around her human's head. Connor's red eyes sparkled as he knelt down and welcomed Hinote with a hug. "Well done, Hinote. That was cool, and you've probably gained levels, too!" he smiled, ruffling the Growlithe's fur. Hinote barked, wondering how many levels he'd gained, and whether or not he'd learned any new moves. He didn't really mind. He'd won, and that was all that really mattered, right?
Connor straightened up, flexing his wings a little. Vivime landed on his snowy hair, looking down at him and smiling. ~You're not gonna just leave her here, are you?~ she asked. Connor blinked. Oh, right. He supposed it would be the right thing to do, to catch her, rather than leave her in the open. Taking out a Pokéball, the albino Ho-oh 'morph threw th device at the fainted Mawile, watching it to see what would happen.

Mawile dreaded the approach of the red and white sphere. She flinched as it came into contact with her prone form, changing her body into a brilliant white light and sucking her into the capsule. The Poke Ball was still for the briefest moment, then began rocking back and forth violently.
Seconds passed; each shake was getting weaker. Finally, the Poke Ball signified that the capture was complete by letting out an echoing click.
Congratulations! Mawile was captured!

ooc// Route One. I have an albino Ho-oh encounter to come up and I haven't even got past one page here
ic// Connor smiled at his sucessful catch, picking up Mawile's Pokéball. "I think I'll call you Mala." he said, clipping it onto his belt next to... wait, what? His mouth opened in shock. He had four Pokémon- Hinote, Nox, Ika and Mizuki. Then why did he have five occupied Pokéballs at his belt? With Mala safely attached, he unclipped the new one. A little note stuck to it read 'Merry Christmas Connor, from Father Christmas.' Connor frowned. Santa had left him a present? That was great, but very surprising. He released it, watching as the mystery Pokémon appeared.
~Er... hello?~ a timid voice came from the Cubone which formed from the red light. Vivime grinned in delight, swooping down to take a closer look. Cubone looked a little scared, and took a timid step back. Vivime didn't advance any further for fear of scaring the little Ground type. Ika had a different reaction. ~Eeeew, i-it's wearing a s-skull!~ she exclaimed. Connor lifted her up, chuckling softly. "Ika, don't worry. That's what all Cubones do." he explained, setting her back down on the ground again. She lingered beside him, not really wanting to move. Hinote beamed, tail wagging furiously. ~Oh boy, a new friend! Hihi, my name's Hinote, and I'm a Growlithe, and we're going to have such fun!~ he said in a rush. Cubone looked a bit stunned at the sudden rush of attention, so Connor moved over and crouched down beside him. "Hey, little fella. Don't worry, these are my Pokémon. They won't harm you. There's Hinote, Nox, Ika, Mizuki, and Mala. Mala is in her Pokéball, because Hinote just defeated her in battle. That's how I caught her." he smiled. "What about you? Do you have a name?" he asked, speaking gently. Cubone shook his head, and Connor slowly stroked the top of his skull. "How about I call you Matris, then?" he suggested. Cubone thought about it for a moment, then nodded. That seemed all right for a name. Connor smiled. "Brilliant! Well, Matris, let's go and see what else is here for us on this Route!" he said, straightening up and walking down the path. Hinote followed at his side, Vivime fluttered about his head, Ika and Nox wondered about, Ika sticking close, and Matris walked next to Mizuki, for he felt that the Buizel would offer good protection.
