((Ri/Kiku and Piez/Sody, I/Sora will meet up with you guys in Petal Town . :3))
Today was a good day. The sun was out, there was a nice breeze, and there was the calming sound of wind rustling the leaves on the trees...
Oops. The sun was not out (hidden behind a thick wall of angry gray clouds), there was no breeze at all, and bird Pokemon were cawing nervously in the save havens of their nests. Sora looked up at the sky. "Looks like it's going to rain, Shiala. Are you sure you don't want to go into your Pokeball?" Sora said, looking down at the little fox. Shiala shook her head. <If you're going to get wet, then I will too. Plus I don't really mind the rain in the first place,> Shiala said, speeding up her pace a little to keep up with Sora's longer strides. A loud boom tore through the air, causing numerous Pokemon to cry out and (in bird Pokemon's cases) fly away.
Sora picked up her Pokemon and quickly flew to the safety of the nearest, largest tree she could find. Just in time too, as suddenly the rain arrived, not pouring, but still not fun to be in. Sora sighed and sat down against the trunk of the tree, putting Shiala in her lap. "I guess we'll have to wait until the rain lets up a little bit," the Swellow 'morph muttered. She didn't mind the rain either, but somehow being caught in it made her feel differently. "I just hope there aren't any psychos waiting to sneak up on us." Shiala nodded, curled up, and dozed off. Sora smiled and ran her hand through the fox's fur, and hoped that the rain would let up soon.
((I hope it's okay for me to make it rain... Just seems like all the other Route 1 threads have normal weather.))

(As long as it's not a killer tornado, you a free to do what you want with the weather.)
While Sora and Shiala may not have been enjoying the rain, another pokemon was. Small puddles were begining to form, and the male Poliwag walking down the path loved few things more than leaping from muddy pool to muddy pool. He chortled to himself as he bounced about, kicking up droplets with his tail and feet. He paused and turned his large eyes toward the tree where Sora and her new friend were perched. ~Poor little birdies don't like to get wet? That's too bad. The water is nice and cool.~ He waddled over under the canopy of leaves to stare up at them. He blinked several times, staring at Sora. ~You are a strange looking Swellow.~ He said bluntly. ~What happened to the rest of your feathers?

At that moment, a clap of lightning, accompanied by thunder, tore through the air. Sora started, nearly knocking Shiala out of her lap and causing the fox's fur to puff up. Looking down, she saw a small Poliwag, looking like he was expecting an answer. She spent the next several seconds slowing her pulse and trying to remember what he said before replying, "I'm not a Swellow, I'm a Pokemorph. I didn't have any feathers to begin with, except on my wings and tail," Sora explained, hopping off her branch with Shiala, whose fur was still puffed up in surprise.
Placing her on the ground next to the Poliwag, just out of the rain's reach, Sora turned her back to the Water-type and extended her wings as far as she could without them getting wet. "See? They're also bigger than a normal Swellow's wings, so I can be able to fly," she said, half thinking that she was showing off.
Shiala still hadn't recovered from the scare. <Did you... really... have to... jump... off the branch?> the fox said between startled gasps. Now that she was calm enough, Shiala turned to the little tadpole. <I guess it was unavoidable that we'd encounter at least one wild Pokemon,> she said. <Did you maybe want a battle?>
Sora smiled. "A battle would be fun, especially in the rain. What do you say?" the 'morph said, nervous yet excited at the thought of her first Pokemon battle.

The poliwag danced in a little happy circle when Sora mentioned battling in the rain. ~Oh, would I ever! But...~ He stopped and gave their pair a scrutinizing look. ~You'll get your pretty feathers all wet.~ The water type didn't seem to mind the thunder and lightning too much, but he was concious of Sora and Shiala's discomfort. He looked around, trying to estimate the dry space under the tree. ~I guess we could battle under here. There's plenty of room. You move first.~ He bounced up and down, getting himself pumped up for the battle.

'He's a little gentleman, isn't he?' Sora thought jokingly. "Thank you. Well, Shiala, let's get started!" Striking a very stupid pose, something she usually wouldn't do unless excited, she called, "Okay Shiala, start off with a Tackle attack!"
Shiala smiled and rushed forward, watching her opponent. Water-types were stronger in the rain, so she would have to be careful. Bouncing up, the fox did a midair somersault, and aimed the aerial Tackle at the tadpole Pokemon.

The poliwag's got even bigger, impressed by Shiala's speed and different attack angle. Her attack hit him squarely, knocking him off his feet and pinning him to the ground. ~Not bad, not bad. But now it's time to get wet!~ He said, grinning broadly. He pursed his lips and blew a Bubble attack right at her face, wiggling to his feet and dancing closer to the edge of the tree's canopy.

Sora "Yes!"ed when she saw Shiala's attack land, but a little bit of the pep went away as she saw the Poliwag perform a Bubble attack. "Quick Shiala, block the bubbles with a Tail Whip!" Sora called.
Shiala spun around and used her thick furry tail to block most of the bubbles, but because of the rain, the Water-type attack did a little more damage than it would have in clearer weather, and most likely negated the effect of Shiala's attack. The fox was pushed back a few feet, her fur now soaked from the rain and the Poliwag's attack combined.
<You're pretty good yourself,> Shiala said, panting a little. Not waiting for an order from her Trainer, the young Eevee rushed forward, seemingly performing another Tackle attack, but at the last moment she spun around once more and tried to swipe her tail across the Poliwag in another Tail Whip. Sora smiled, calling encouragement to her Pokemon while thinking, 'I have a feeling this is going to be a close match. It could go either way right now...'

The Poliwag saw what seemed to be a Tackle, moving to dodge the onslaught. At the last moment, however, it turned out to be a Tail Whip, and he felt his defense lowered. <Ha, you got me there! Well, take this!> The Pokemon jumped backwards a bit more, then inhaled deeply, blowing out a barrage of bubbles at his dripping opponent.
The Bubble attack was widespread, no two bubbles seeming to be anywhere near each other. Some floated idly, even, like mines waiting for the Eevee to step into them. The Pokemon smiled, jumping from foot to foot. The swirl on his torso seemed to dance along with him as he had the same thought as Sora. <This is going to be a close battle!>

((Yes! Might be able to catch him now! :3))
"Yes! You got him, Shiala!" Sora cried joyously, but her joy went away once more when she saw that the Poliwag had planted a mine field of bubbles. "Careful Shiala, one wrong move and you'll pop all the bubbles!" Shiala nodded, panting. Though the two Pokemon seemed to be evenly matched, it was clear that Shiala was losing energy, whereas the Poliwag seemed to be as lively as ever.
<I'm fine... Just... getting a little... tired...> Shiala panted. That Tail Whip had taken more out of her than she thought.
Sora watched the battle anxiously, bouncing a Pokeball in one hand. If one more of Shiala's attacks hit, she might be able to catch Poliwag! It all depended on how long the little fox could keep battling. Suddenly Sora had an idea. Risky, but if Shiala was thinking the same thing (one look told Sora she was), then the Eevee might be able to pull it off!
"All right, Shiala, one more time! This turn, improvise!" Sora called, hoping that her friend had enough stamina to finish the fight. Shiala backed up ever so slightly, still panting a little, and swept her tail into the field of bubbles.
Though the bubbles nearest her popped instantly, they caused a chain reaction that caused the rest of the blue spheres to pop all at once, dealing a considerable amount of damage to the fox. With her remaining strength, hoping the Poliwag was distracted, she leaped forward in an all-out Tackle attack. Sora gripped the Pokeball tightly, ready to throw it at a moment's notice. All the Trainer and her Pokemon could do was hope that the attack hit...

Yes, yes! The Poliwag grinned as Sora warned Shiala of the dangers of his bubbles. <Let's see you get through this one!> His words sounded exhausted, in fact, the Pokemon, though happy, was looking quite fatigued.
His tail laid on the ground and his eyes were a bit too wide, shocky. The swirl on his torso moved lazily as he breathed in deeply, then breathed out.
<Improvise? Look how tired you are!> He smiled ruefully as Sora gave the Eevee her command, almost chuckling to himself. Sure, they were both tired, but he could hide it better! So much better! Suddenly, a bubble popped!
Not one, no, no! Two, three? Five! It was a beautiful chain reaction, so wondrous that the Poliwag was horribly distracted, watching each and every bubble meet its own demise from the force of its neighbor's. But still, that Eevee stayed on her feet!
As Shiala dashed towards him with a Tackle attack, it took the Water Type a moment to realize that he was being engaged in battle one more time. With a hasty dodge, he jumped sideways on small feet, but wasn't in time.
The attack hit him full on, and the Pokemon rolled over sideways, then backwards before coming shakily to his feet without trying. He took a step forward, wobbling uncontrollably, before he fell onto his face, fainted.
-Shiala gains two levels!-
-The Poliwag is available for capture!-

((Yes! :3))
Not taking any chances that the tadpole might get back up, Sora flung the Pokeball towards the Water-type, and, not waiting to see if it hit, rushed to Shiala. "Shiala, are you okay? Shiala?" the 'morph said frantically. 'Idiot! You knew this would happen!' she thought, pulling out a Revive. Though, the Eevee's tail twitched, so her Trainer quickly switched it out for a Potion.
Spraying it on Shiala, Sora waited until the Potion had finished its job, then picked up her Eevee and anxiously watched the Pokeball.
((Meh. Failpost. No muse.))

. . . . The Pokeball rocked. Left, right, left. It wasn't very eventful to watch at all. At first, the Poliwag fought, just to make it more difficult for Sora and Shiala. Even as he fought, however, fatigue seemed to win out, as the spherical metronome that was his prison moved slower, and slower, finally coming to a stop. A small flash of a light on the orb signified that the beast was caught. Congratulations! Sora felt a rush of giddy excitement when she saw the Pokeball stop moving. Coincidentally, the rain had been gradually letting up, and the sun was now shining through the clouds, the warm light creating a bright rainbow that arched across the sky. With another jovial "Yes!" Sora snatched up the Pokeball and, walking out from under the safe haven of the tree, flung the sphere into the air.
The Swellow Pokemorph and fox Pokemon watched as a streak of white light was released, only to materialize on the ground as the Poliwag, now completely healed.
Shiala climbed up onto the 'morph's shoulder and asked, <Sorry if I didn't ask this before, but do you have a name?>
Poliwag shook his head (along with most of the rest of him) and replied, <Most wild Pokemon don't have names. I'm not really sure why.>
"In that case, I think I'll call you Whirl for now. When you evolve, I'll try to think of something else, if you like," the teen offered. The newly-dubbed Whirl stood up a little higher. <That's fine with me,> the tadpole agreed, smiling at his new name.
With the sun shining, a fox on her head and a tadpole beside her, Sora continued walking down the beaten path of Route 1, the path that was the beginning of so many new adventures.
((Don't think I'm heading to Petal Town yet. I want to see if anything else happens. :3))

ooc;;Okay, then.
A young girl was trudging along down Route 1, head down. She couldn't have been much older than 10 or 11, and her reddish-brown hair easily reached down to her ankles. It obscured her body as she stared down towards the earth. It was hard to hear from afar, but as she approached, it waa obvious the girl was sobbing. Hiccups were audible over the small Pokemon sounds of Route 1.
She raised her face, showing lightly tanned skin, and round, very, very large gray-blue eyes, that were rimmed in red. She had a dusting of freckles across her nose, which was running steadily. Another sob.
Now that her hair was out of the way, her clothing was in view. The girl wore a dress in a pale, delicate pink. The sleeves were puffed, with white frills on the edges. The dress reached down to her ankles, and was streaked with mud, grass, and other debris, proving she had obviously been making her way around off the beaten path.
The bottom of the dress had more frill around it, though they were brown instead of white from the dirt. The only thing that contrasted was the dark black belt for holding Pokeballs. There was one Pokeball on the belt, covered in flower stickers that was close to peeling off.
She sobbed again, and finally caught sight of Sora, Shiala, and Whirl. The girl shook her head, as if expecting a hallucination. Eventually she stopped, scrutinizing the trio again. Finally, dubbing them as real as could be, the girl in the dress broke out into a run, coming up to them and breathing hard. She sniffed, recomposing herself from her obviously long bout of tears, and spoke in a quiet, almost musical voice.
"Uh-uh, excuse me!" The girl spoke politely to Sora, looking up at her hopefully. "H-have, have you seen a Seviper or an Elekid with a funny scar on his eye like this?" She held her index finger over her closed left eye diagonally, signifying a scar.
The girl sniffed again, fighting off tears. "He took my Pokemon! W-we were walking on Route 1 having a good time, and this funny other P-pokemon! H-he led us off into the woods! R-ran off with Stevie!!"
She said the word "other" as if that Pokemon that wasn't hers was the most vile thing in the world. The girl shook her head wildly for a moment, going "No, no no!", trying to keep from bursting into tears. Slowly, the crying was winning out.
A tear ran down from the corner of her eye, and she wiped it away angrily. "C-can you help me find my Pokemon? He's probably scaaare-" She didn't finish the word, as then, the little girl broke out into tears, wailing. "Oh Stevie!!!" She cried loudly, sliding slowly to her knees to sob.

((Totally didn't expect that. :3))
Sora jumped slightly as a young girl's voice seemed to come from thin air behind her. She turned towards the somewhat melodic sound, and groaned inwardly. 'Must be the kid of some Idol or rich guy,' Sora thought irritably, noting the overly frilly (in Sora's opinion) dress and ridiculously long hair. She couldn't stand stuck-up rich people. Though after hearing the distressed girl out, the 'morph's heart just wouldn't let her walk away. Shiala tugged at her pant leg, implying that they should help. Sora sighed mentally, debating on what she should do.
"All right, I'll help you find your Stevie," she said after a moment, smiling slightly but wondering if she was getting herself involved in something. "What does Stevie look like?" Privately the teen wondered if a Team Chaos grunt might've been behind Stevie's kidnapping. If Stevie was a rarer species of Pokemon, it was definitely a possibility.
<Shiala and Whirl, while we're searching for her Stevie, be on guard,> Sora whispered in Pokespeak. Her two Pokemon nodded slightly, signaling that they heard the message.
